Initial 10, then reduced to 6 + 2 Point Deductions

What both upsets and amazes me is that people read this thread and see just how the “rules” are randomly applied so certain clubs will always benefit and the punished will always be other “lesser” clubs & then…

fume on the transfer thread about how we are only a couple of signings from getting back in the big time.

Very very sadly that ship has sailed for us. We had our chance in the early 90’s and blew it. We will become another Vill/ Newcastle. Yo yo between having a good season then being checked by PSR or whatever is going to replace it.

Citeh will never be punished.
Chelsea will never have their spending curtailed.
VAR will never consistently give decisions against the R/S
And the CL money will keep being distributed to the same 5 clubs. I don’t really count Spuds.

Enjoy modern football for many things but never believe it is a level playing field. We will always be kicking uphill into the wind.

Leicester saying they think their deduction is "disproportionate" is a joke. The presedent has been set with our deduction, and after appeal that was 6 points. They can have no complaints with being given the same. Enjoy the relegation battle 😉

So how exactly do the Premier League deduct points from a Football League club?
"Management: The Premier League is a private company owned by its member clubs and The FA. The EFL is a separate organization governing the lower tiers"
"The commission was appointed under Premier League rules last May, after an arbitration tribunal ruled jurisdiction to investigate alleged breaches of EFL rules could transfer to the Premier League following the Foxes' promotion to the top flight in 2024.

The commission determined the club had breached the relevant P&S threshold by £20.8m over the three-year assessment period ending 2023/24."

So that reads to me as you will be deducted points whether you are in the Premier League or EFL as both organisations have agreed to transfer the punishments depending on where the team are playing.

Paddy Power on the money celebrating 3 years since Man City had the 115 charges put to them.

A lot of the Leicester fans think they have got off light, i think they have to.

It's the 'champions' league that's doing the damage, creating a football chasm with the finances associated with those clubs and the rest of us and with that money they can hoover up any talent from the rest of the league which in turns means these clubs are always in the process of rebuilding (Leicester after they won the league, Palace now after winning the Cup even us when we lost the likes of Lukaku, Stones, Fellaini etc) Adding to that the crazy amount of games these clubs have to play they need to have 22 plus first team able players so they can rest players in the cup competitions and still have a side out which is better then the majority of the league. And to top it all off they are hoovering up all the youth talent at academy level making it harder for clubs to build from within

I've never complained about our punishment just the fact others haven't been punished for the same crimes or lesser or worse in the Sportwashers case

To be fair to the Premier League, they have been fighting Manchester City in court since 2019.

They have unlimited funds and have been trying to delay this case by any method possible.

The legal fees for the premier league must be in tens of millions.

I still have no idea why the hell that's not settled. It was decided over a year ago

The Leicester verdict took almost 9 months with a single charge and a 100 page written verdict.

Given the City charges cover a much longer period of time, are far more serious in nature, and will have involved hundreds of thousands of documents as evidence, it’s going to take a long time.

Also as noted previously, City’s owners are effectively a sovereign state so have far reaching influence.

The only winners at the moment are the lawyers - they must be earning a fortune.

Very true Moomin, money that could be better used elsewhere in grassroots football for example
