In my Lifetime (The Glory Days)

For the people who've seen Everton win the league, what does it feel like? If I compare it to today's premiership, Is it tense in the last 8-9 games? Did the media get involved in it? Was the crowd rocking at every game thinking we are one game closer to a title? What was the whole euphoria like? I can just imagine it to be boss as well as nerve racking.

What about times when we missed out on the league? What was the feeling like there?

To put it into context the night as a schoolboy when we clinched the title 2-0 v WBA at Goodison - I went to school the next day and My mate said it just flashed on the screen on the BBC1 - that EFC were Champions - that was the coverage we got ! compare it with today = no comparison!

...you have to remember that there was no Sky TV and very little live footy in those days but make no mistake in '63 we were a big cheese. Around 1970 the biggest game was Everton v Leeds but our side was very special, and the '85 team had so much belief and swagger that you just knew we would win.

Yes the 1969/70 side of Ball Harvey and Kendall I seen most home games and a lot of away games I was there when we beat WBA to win the title - Goodison rocked that night the whole ground sang - goals from Whittle and Harvey - I was 15 years old and still the beast EFC footballing side I have yet to see the football from the whole team was telepathic what a midfield and what a great side they were!

...interesting that Colin Harvey always said that the mid-80s team couldn't have lived with the 1970 boys and I reckon he should know.

great stuff, love hearing all things like that

a teacher of mine years ago who was a mad blue, managed to convince Alan Whittle to come down to our school once (only down the road from Goodison) and give us a few tips when we were playing footy,

top man he was, would loved to have seen him play, our Holy Trinity too, we must've played some ace footy with those guys

The 1980'teams were very special but for pure football from front to back the 1970 side had everything - Goals came from everywhere we had one striker in Joe Royle - and a left winger who was so underrated in Johnny Morrissey - Ball Harvey and Kendall should have been the England midfield they were pure class and when I watch Rooney now some of his passes through balls etc you can tell the white Pele { Harvey had trained him through his youth career - what a player Harvey was!

ive seen us win league 4 times cup 3 times one european trophy thats what the difference is betweenus and likes of newcastle etc who think they are big clubs

In my lifetime, four Titles, three F.A. Cups and the European Cup Winners Cup.

Not a great deal compared to some clubs, but I wouldn't trade being an Evertonian for anything.

Seen 4 league titles 3cups and 1european cup winners cup.yes it's frustrating these days ,but you never give up hoping for success .i think back to the early eighties when things were bleak, with low crowds, then the team clicked and results improved and all of a sudden we were in 2 finals (may 84) and we were back competing again.never give up.

...loved Morrisey, amazing that he and Kendal didn't get caps.

I was lucky enough to be going the match as a teenager in the mid 80s and had the joy of singing "Campioni Campioni !" stood in the lower gwladys and watching the team parade the 1st division trophy around the ground. I sadly can't imagine it will ever happen again.
