Not really. He's a very good player and we're all glad he's ours.

But we are allowed to voice an opinion on their actions.

His country were adjudged (correctly) to have disqualified themselves.

That's his and Gueye's business. Itls nothing to do with us and we'll now see their protests elevated above our win.
Putting it frankly Dave, I’ll be furious if Everton don’t come out and support the two afcon champs we have in the squad. It’s despicable what has happened, as corrupt, if not more so than the farce going on in the pl. I hope we get some more banners done for them actually.

Illy and Gana can use Everton and any other platform they like to highlight the disgrace.

Aside from that nonsense and getting back on topic, illy was magnificent again yesterday, and his sublime goal just capped off an all round fantastic display - he’s magic.

The CAF (Confed of African Footy) decision will fail when it goes to CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport). They tried something like this (overruling a refs decision to try and replay a game rather than accept the refs abandoned game & 3-0 victory) in the African champs league (funnily enough for the benefit of the Moroccan team IIRC).

CAS ruled that the refs on field decisions supersede the federations post game rulings.

Because the refs didn’t call the game off, and because Morocco agreed to play on, I’m confident when it goes to CAS they will rule in Senegal's favour.

Everton should be publicly backing the players and citing that CAS ruling as why CAF can’t legally do what they’ve done.

Where is the corruption?

The Senegal team left the pitch en masse and that triggers disqualification.

For crowd safety the game was allowed to carry on but an inquiry was announced immediately after the game to determine what should happen.

Too many people are citing corruption because the host country benefitted but the rules were broken. It's just because it was in Africa that the accusations are flying.

In any case, NONE of that has anything to do with Everton.

I think you're absolutely right here, but I'm not sure it's Everton's place to publicly comment on it.

Wrong all over the shop.

They play for us - if they want to use that spotlight to call out injustice and corruption.

Everton don’t have to do anything but let them.

And in terms of Senegal, the whole footballing world is behind them getting their trophy back unless they have agendas against them or for Morocco, so even without our Ili and Gana bias I’m glad we’re making small gestures towards backing them with the odd social media comment.

I know we might not care about how the club is viewed overseas but the post I saw was flooded with comments from Senegalese and other African football fans respecting it and saying they will always support Everton which isn’t bad for us as we try and grow the stature of the club.

We dont have to publicly come out and support it, even though we should.

We shouldn’t be censoring our afcon chaps though, if they want to highlight the issue whilst playing for us.

Anyway, that’s me done on this subject - illy is a magician and he’s ours! UTFT.
