If we had beaten Wigan in the cup would this have happened?

Think the only way things may be different is if he got the signings he wanted in January he might have signed a contract....

... And we'd have got some compensation once United came calling. At the end of the day, you don't turn down the United managers job (nowadays anyway)

Yeah no results this year would stop a manager who has been given no funds for over a decade from moving to one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Although the CL may of given him some pause for thought.

tomorrow would be the man city-everton cup final.

we would be in europe. we would have gained great momentum but no we totally screwed up wigan and now look where we are.

one result did MASSIVE damage.

We would have been beaten by City in the Final

At the end of the day, Fergies hip op was the reason he retired IMO, and hence why Moyes is there. He knows he would have had to had 2-3 months out, assuming no complications, which for a man his age, are commonplace. Realistically, utd could have been without a manager for 6 moths.

I suspect the writing was on the wall long before Wigan.

I agree totally with this. My belief is that he's known there would be a strong possibilty of the United job being his this summer for a good year by now. This whole running his contract down business smelt rotten from the beginning and i have little doubt his friend Ferguson had kept him informed of matters all along. Us being in the final this weekend would merely have delayed the announcement for a week or 2

Wouldn't have made th slightest bit of difference he took this job as much as a year ago if you ask me! Will never hate Moyes it is a job he had to take! Just the timing of it all has annoyed me! Why not let the season finish!

Sorry but the ball in the draw depends on the match and not the team that wins so whoever won the EFC v Wigan game would have had that number. So yes it would have been us v millwall. The FA website has all the details.

We would have played Chelsea in the semi final as we wouldn't have been the same ball as Wigan in the semi-final draw. People always seem to overlook this.

The draw was
1 Chelsea
2 Man City
3 Milwall
4 Wigan

1 and 2 were drew together, as were 3 and 4.

The draw would have been
1 Chelsea
2 Everton
3 Man City
4 Millwall

presuming the same balls were picked we would have played Chelsea. I imagine we would have rolled over at Wembley again.

Draw numbers are taken from the quarter final ties.

1. Everton or Wigan Athletic
2. Manchester City or Barnsley
3. Manchester United or Chelsea
4. Millwall or Blackburn Rovers

We would have got Millwall
