But we are Everton F.C, we don't do relegation, that's a thing that lesser mortals do, like Newcastle for example.

As much as I'd like to believe that mate I just dont think that would happen. Anyways, back to reality, we're 5th, everything is rosy and we're rich beyond our wildest dreams!

Reality is ace, it's where its at, everyone wants to be there .

And besides, we almost went down with Rooney in the team, so...

Theoretically, this thread doesn't exist anymore :D

Rooney coming back would make the split caused by Kirkby seem like a hiccup He disrespected every blues fan when he kissed that badge I remember Law scoring the goal for city that sent united down he showed respect to the fans Cahill scored against Millwall same respected his old fans thats just two examples I could go on the trouble is off the pitch the truth is Rooney has no class.I have hated him since that incident before that I talked myself into blaming it all on Stretford Lets be honest there is to much hostility to ever contemplate it happening(n)

Yeah but to be fair though would he have done that whole badge kissing gesture if it weren’t for the hostility that he’s met with every time he faces us? He’s wound up a treat by the crowd so he reacted in the way he knew it would hurt the most, and that in itself shows he knows damn well what he was doing and what it meant.

I don’t know why I seem to be the one sticking up for him, I don’t like him anymore that the rest of you.

As much as we all hate him, he is a fantastic player. Say he wanted to come back and the price was right, would we swallow our pride and have him for the good of the team?

I dont particulaly like Fernandes but im happy we got him back (until he started playing [Poor language removed]). Rooney only kissed the badge to wind the fans up. He loves Everton whether he wants to or not. To special to change just like that and he knows it as much as anyone

would you take your wife back if she slept with your best mate/boss/random bloke from the boozer?

Haha. Good analogy, bly. I would add to it, would you take your wife back after she slept with your best friend in front of you while you were too pissed to move. All the time, whilst you watched, she had a big grin on her face.

No chance!

Even better analogy Neb(y)

I dont give a [Poor language removed] about this "he was vulnerable" crap. If I were in his position I would have signed a 20-year contract with Everton, no problem. I'm sure in the same position, we all would. I would have played in any league to put on that Royal Blue Jersey, to join the greats like Ball, Labone..Dean! Some people are forgetting, we are one of the best football clubs in the world, Nil Satis Nisi Optimum, it is not just a job, it is an honour to don that shirt. To play on that royal turf, coming out to Z-cars..there would be nothing better in the world. There should be no higher honour. He disregarded us for his own selfish reasons, and more than just any foreigner, as he was supposed to be one of us. He was supposed to understand all of this.
Those who understand, need no explanation. And those who dont understand, dont matter.

Rooney doesn't matter to Everton anymore. And he never should.

This thread makes me laugh. If he came back (a decision of which none of us would be able to influence either way), everyone would be stoked. A few titty lips and typical nobheads spitting their dummies but for what he could do for the club I think most sensible people would see past the panto antics.

I was stood amongst the absolute horrible [Poor language removed] name calling and insults that young lad had to endure whilst waiting for the whistle to kick off and to be honest I was shocked he never turned round and did a Cantona on some proper [Poor language removed] in the crowd.
Maybe I'm getting old but I do think some people go too far with their insults at footy.
If it was in a crowded pub and they did it to the lad he'd be flying over with his fists out, so he did the only thing he could and he knew it would get the reaction it did. I'm almost willing to say good on him, but at the end of the day what he did was [Poor language removed] all, he did it for a reaction and he got it and he smiled about it. The nobs in the crowd went ballistic it was pure panto genius, shame its not on tape.

So far as Rooney moving to ManU, I believe it was best all round. The money we got gave us a shot in the arm and we have a lot of decent players now down to the fact that we got the money for Rooney. He got to go play in the CL and test himself.

If he came back a bit wiser in 5-8 years and in his press conference said something along the lines of "I went so Everton could have the cash from my move and build a better team" I wouldn't be shocked or annoyed at what he did.

Let me go get my flame proof suit.

No. We are not a lcub to be used for a players convenience. He moved to Man Utd and id hate the idea of him returning for a few years on the arse end of his career when his best days are behind him.

We are better than that

Actually Ichigo, you bring up a good point about the money we got from the sale.

I think a lot of people forget about that.

I wasn't happy to see us sell him (although not surprised once he hired Stretford as his agent) yet I knew that the money we'd get for him would really help bolster Everton's financial base.

I mean how many clubs get that kind of cash injection? Not a lot.

All in all, and in 20/20 hindsight, I think it's all worked out for the better.
