If Chelsea or Spurs win the Europa League

Swansea City were the first team to book their place in Europe by winning the Capital One Cup, and will enter the Europa League in the third qualifying round unless they finish in the top four of the Premier League.
In that event, Swansea would enter the Champions League, with the sixth-placed team taking the Swans' Europa League berth.

it's on

So now im torn, do I cheer on Tottenham and Arsenal to win each week hoping they keep Chelsea out of the top four and hope that we finish 5th or 6th with Chelsea? Or do I just keep hoping that we win and everyone else loses?

I think I will stick with hoping we win and everyone else loses, as I normally do and hopefully we will get there on merit.

Knowing our luck, we will finish 5th, Chelsea 6th (who will also win the Europa League and FA Cup) Liverpool will finish 7th and somehow Uefa and the FA will find an extra place for them in the Europa league, citing European "Co-efficiencies" or some other rubbish.

Just cheer on Everton mate.

searching for some information about this online, I found this article from the Guardian in February,

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/feb/05/europa-league-finalists-champions-place

It basically says that;

Uefa have surveyed 207 top European clubs (only 87 answered the survey)
61% said that they would like to see Champions League places given to the Europa League finalists.

Platini has said this will be considered, but any changes wont be made till 2015.

They haven't said if these would be "extra" places or taken from the existing allocation. So for example, if you had two PL teams in the Europa League Final, does this mean that there will be 6 English teams in next seasons Champions League.

I would think not, its more likely that it would mean that 3rd and 4th place in PL would be moved into the Europa League, so there are still only a maximum of four representatives from from each country in the Champions League

We have to get fifth to go to Europe.

It says in the Europa League guidelines

I love these topics, but ultimately we can just qualify simply by finishing 5th.

Hang on, I have just typed a positive message.
*Retracts and makes cheese on toast*

Ultimately, is be happy with us reaching Europe by any means possible, but as stated above, we could also press on and finish 5th.

Is this true???
