2017/18 Idrissa Gueye

He was left to do way to much of the pivot work today which he can't do. Rooney was poor and Gueye ain't good enough on the ball to pull the strings. Personally I'd replace him but that's obviously not for happenning.

Gueye is the last of our midfield problems imo.

Just let him do the job he's good at. There are two other midfield positions whom have literally failed to do anything all season no matter who the personnel. They are the problem, not our sweet prince Gana!

After the first Burnley goal he ran almost the entire half to have a go at Pickford. Not sure it was warranted, mind, but shows that the squad seems to not exactly be harmonious.

Him and Martina cost us that second goal, ridiculous Chuckle Brothers impression gifted them a corner.

Needs to just sit in front of the back two instead of pushing on to the opponents box all the time.
Lost count the amount of times teams just seem to be able to run at our centre half’s unopposed.

This is correct. I think Gueye is a great player at tackling and intercepting, but generally speaking he is very poor when he goes forward.

It doesn’t help him, having a player next to him in Davies who passes to their team more than our own.

Ideally he will just defend if and when we get a better player to play next to him. That’s what he’s best at.

A decent 'nuts and bolts' midfielder, who get's around the pitch.

Never truly dominates games, and an abysmal goal record.

Good player but is a one-trick pony really. Doesn't offer anything going forward so understandable why he's been dropped. Still has a place in the side, but we need to go for wins and the only way to do that is to commit more on the attack.
