The obsession with Holtby is just strange.

99% of people begging for us to sign him are doing so solely on the basis of a quote from a few years ago when he said he follows Everton as his dad's a blue.

I'm actually kind of hoping he comes out and says he loves Newcastle or something too so everyone will shut up.

Can't argue with this tbf. I have watched him play when I can for Schalke over the last year, and yeh I'd love him to sign for us, he looks like a quality player (at least when I've seen him). However, I'm realistic to know that just because 'he said he likes us a bit' once that doesn't mean he's signing for us.

But I think he's the type of player we could do with - not desperate for, like - a young, versatile play-maker. There's plenty of others though!
