How significant is finishing above the red side two seasons in a row?

I dont care where we finish as long as its above them, if that means 15th next season then as long as they were 16th it'd be a good season for me, maybe a carling cup win thrown in.

.....for me it is important and despite what they say, its important to them as well. Its a great benchmark too because it always reflects a decent season.

Their only aim now is to finish above us, we must be happy with that. If we don't finish above them this season we kiss europe goodbye. Obviously our main aim is to qualify for europe and this week is massive for that, need at least one win and not to lose either game and we are in with a shout of champions league.

Don't kid yourselves, mate. We need all six points. Going to be a tough tough week.

Small time to enjoy finishing above them ? Christ. Why even have a local rivalry ?

I don't give a f*** if it's bitter, i would love to finish above that shower for the second year in a row.

Of course it would be nice yes. But I wouldn't call it 'significant' unless we finished 1st and them 2nd, or perhaps more realistically we finished 4th and them 5th.

I ****ing hate this whole 'small time' thing whenever Liverpool are mentioned.

United fans are always banging on about them. Are United small time? Are Real Madrid small time because their fans hate Barca? What about the Milan clubs?

Bollocks.

I dunno, maybe i like it more that i realise but will anybody look back on 2011/12 with any great fondness just for being ahead of them?

I will mate. I don't think it's being small time either, it's about young Evertonians going to school with their heads held high and the office worker getting a bit of one up man ship over the red in next cubicle.

We're Everton we need to take all the victories we can.

3 pts and a game in hand above them - OVER THE LAST 4 SEASONS. So they can hardly claim to be our superiors now can they?

Whats all this small time stuff about?
Its not small time its enjoying small victories, yes I would still prefer to get 4th/5th but if we dont then of course I want to finish above that shower.
It will be a relief more than anything because we should be finishing above them, they're a poor side. Let's not kid ourselves with talking about power shifts either, they need to be worse than us for a good 5 seasons, whilst we win stuff/get europe. There won't be a proper power shift on Merseyside for a while because the money they have (compared to us) will always bail them out.
So yes we are right to 'celebrate'a finishing above them

Thing is, they don't have loads of money. Not anymore.

£85m net spend in the last two years - including £105m in new purchases in one calendar year - a £25m per year kit deal, £20m per year sponsorship and a worldwide fan base that buy merchandise in bulk says different mate.
