How significant is finishing above the red side two seasons in a row?

I dont care where we finish as long as its above them, if that means 15th next season then as long as they were 16th it'd be a good season for me, maybe a carling cup win thrown in.

Let's not kid ourselves with talking about power shifts either, they need to be worse than us for a good 5 seasons, whilst we win stuff/get europe. There won't be a proper power shift on Merseyside for a while because the money they have (compared to us) will always bail them out.
