How significant is finishing above the red side two seasons in a row?

Its weird Moyes gets hammered for not beating them away one game a year, but finishing above them over the course of an entire season where they've once more spent vast sums of money and we spend fk all is utterly meh.

I think its a great thing, is it winning a cup?.. no, does that mean its not worthy of taking satisfaction from?.. not in my opinion.

They've rubbed in our faces for long enough that we should be taking some enjoyment at the power shift that's going on here. Why not? what are you actually afraid of when you enjoy this thing? Why would any Everton fan seriously not enjoy this.

As for significance to the players.. If we beat them a couple of times away that's a regular 3 pointer we can put down because we've been better than them for a while now.

With the current board they could finish in the Championship and we'd still be seen as the smaller time.

Not arsed about our relative standing unless we can use it to pay the bills.

Small time attitude really to be obsessed about it, besides, it will annoy them more if we're blaise about finishing above them as if its the new norm, they would despise that.

It's insignificant when there are no trophies in the cabinet for the last however many wilderness years we've had. Not even arsed where they finish unless it's relegation.

I would sooner Arsenal had drawn than that shower today.
I always want to finish ahead of them, as I would also like to finish ahead of the 2 Manchester clubs.
The most important thing now is to try and win every game and see if it is enough for a top 4 spot. At the end of the day it is looking more likely they will go into the derby with the intention of spoiling our ambitions. That is remarkable when you look at the disgusting wealth they have in comparison.

If we qualify for nothing and win nothing then it just makes them slightly more mediocre than us an nothing more. If we can go a couple of seasons where they win nothing and qualify for nothing and we actually do something of note then it'll look like a power shift in the city and it'll be something to be proud of.

Long term, it means nothing. They could hire a competent manager in the summer, invest £50m in the playing squad and blow us away. Sad but true.

It is a nice side effect of being a decent team at the moment though.

We just have to hope and pray they hang on to Rodgers.

They'd need a lot more than £50m to 'blow us away'. Too many crap players on big money. Unless they get sheikh money, they're forever doomed to be around us. They might finish above us occasionally, but they ain't blowing anyone away, because Utd, City and Chelsea will always be richer, Arsenal for all their whinging are a well-run club, and Spurs spend a fortune.
