I think it will happen suddenly and out of the blue with Distin, one day that pace will just go, with that, starting every week will be taken away and his decline will then be rapid.

However there's no signs of it yet. Replacing him is gonna be tough.

He needs replacing at the end of the season. Or at least someone coming in to provide serious competition as if he's out then we have no left sided centre backs in reserve.

I remember Baz Rathbone telling me a story once about a players pace going, and how quickly it happens.

Something like this..........

I was playing at the back, cant remember who against, and the ball got played behingd us down the flank, into the channel. I turned to give chase to the ball, putting my all in to try and re-start an attack. I heard the pound of footsteps behind me, catching me up, getting closer and closer, I could hear his breathing right down my neck. I really busted my lungs, every ounce of me was sceraming as I couldnt physically go any faster. The ball was just slowing down and I was getting there, I was going to get there first. I reached it, stretched out my leg and powered the ball out of play, and into the crowd to a cacophony of boos and jeers, I turned around to see who it was that was chasing me so hard, then it dawned on me, the person so close to me was in fact the linesman.

I knew then, my pace had gone.

Ive been impressed at how hes adapted to robertos style of play, i thought he'd struggle but he looks even better.
Can see him lasting for another two years hes probably one of the fitest players at the club.
