Let's take some solace from last night's disappointing result.

(1) Koeman now knows that, outside of his first 11, the squad is not good enough.

(2) One less potential fixture against that lot from Mordor.

PS. If everyone on here lives to be 125, none of us will see Everton win this competition.

Naturally, I'm upset. It's a cup, we haven't won one in (what will be) 22 years, which is far too long.

However, on the grand scheme of things, Chelsea, City, Arsenal, United, Liverpool and Spurs could ALL still be left in, and without trying to sound too pessimistic, I'd expect us to (barring no minor miracle) go out with those left. We're doing very well in the league, which may not be the case come January, so i'd rather prioritise the League now, and have no extra games to contend with, that starts with West Ham, who you'd expect to beat Accrington tonight, and if we've dropped off, we can focus on the FA Cup come January.

Losing last night showed, that whilst we have an excellent set of starting players, we've not quite got a good squad, and we won't with the likes of Cleverley in it.
Very well put.

so all those teams are in the premier league, therefore we cant finish in the top six? says it all really about our own self perception, no wonder we cant attract any top quality players, the whole place is shrouded in a losing mentality, Moshiri,Koeman et al have made no difference to that whatsoever!

I just hope this defeat doesn't affect our momentum in the league. I really hope deals are getting sorted now for players to come in early January, as last night proves we have don't have strong squad!

Putting myself down for 25% because it stinks to bomb out of a cup but otherwise it didn't shatter any illusions I had about the squad. On the upside, like how last year at Barnsley was the absolute end of Aiden McGeady, this might be the end of some other dross.

I've gone 100% because I hate it when we lose but more importantly it's my personal crusade to get the stadium painted blue and win the league cup coz we've never won it ffs..

Nothing else to add.

One thing that last night will highlight is the need to get the players we want in the January window in, and not just linked with until the last day of the window when the deal fizzels out. No messing about, our second string isn't good enough to cope if the bulk of the first team is out and we need to sort that.

Also, credit Norwich for two beautiful goals. We probably would have won that game were it not for a few unlucky moments and great finishes from Naismith and Murphy.
