Home form

Not for me, just easy excuses to say "away teams are looking forward to playing here because its a new stadium and not branded"

I would be too if I had 1 striker to mark, no full backs going beyond their wingers, centre mids coming on as wingers, centre mods played as 10s and traffic cones getting number 9 shirts

In fact as an away manager, I'd be fuming if I came away from the HDS without 3 points.

The away team get 1 welcome and 1 welcome only nearly every single game and that's the Everton line up

Fair comment.

That's true enough, of course.

But it's a bit soulless and I cant help but think away players going in look at it as a neutral venue...that's because it pretty much is. It's a general event arena.

This issue of Evertonisation needs looking into and resolved very quickly.
I agree. No EFC on the seats. No personalisation throughout. No statues. I love the stadium. But right now it’s a lawyer’s stadium with us listed second. And it’s kind of ours because the seats are blue? It’s early on in the new life of our beloved club here. But through February, we don’t intimidate at all. We just provide easy wins to the opponent with a beautiful view of the Mersey.

We play differently away from home. More compact and get forward in numbers more carefully.

Moyes stated a day or so ago that we cant play that way at home. I'd like to know why.

Why does he believe he has to play less cautiously at home against better coached and more pacy opponents?

You pick your ground to fight on that suits what you have.
Yeah, maybe he’s worried about what the fans would think but if it gives us the best chance, he should do it.

Maybe the upcoming run of home games against the top teams will suit us more as we’ll probably play more like that, we’ll have to see.

It's a nothing name for the stadium. Insipid and a bit embarrassing.

I didn’t realise we only got points for the home games. 37 points is about right and maybe slightly higher than where this squad should be in the table.
Haha yeah of course, we averaged 1.63 PPG over 19 games last season under Moyes. So I agree after spending £120 million we should be doing worse. Who could reasonably expect anything more?

I’m absolutely sick to death of watching teams come to our ground and play quick, incisive one touch passing all around us.

Even when we win it’s because we’ve won physical battles and picked up scraps in the box, or we’ve had an individual moment of magic. There is a ceiling to that.
Is it made of glass?

Moyes shouldn’t care which patch of grass we play on whether home or away. That’s all it is. Grass. Set us up to dominate without fear or concern of conceding a single point because our XI are established based on who we’re playing and we’re set up to adapt via substitutions all throughout the match.

Terrible home form.

It’s very strange. Although saying that it wasn’t too good at Goodison either for the last couple of years or so.

I think the players have difficulty dealing with the weight of expectation. It’s all in their heads. Other teams know it too.

£120 million is nothing nowadays, especially when you’re starting off as a team in the bottom half battling relegation. Another 2 or 3 lots of £120 million will be needed before we have a serious squad that can compete for anything.

Yawn, just more unwarranted justification for the absolute dross we’ve been subjected to this season at home. Frankly the football this season home and away is total garbage and mind numbingly boring to watch.

You probably think that all of our wins are down to luck and all of our losses are down to Moyes? I’ve seen a few that think that already tonight.

Couple of caveats to the £120 million thing.

1. We spent it replacing players who left for nothing, essentially spending to stand still.

2. We absolutely wasted it.
