I'll take that as an omen right now!
1997 Spurs 1-0 (Gary Speed)

1999 Charlton 4-1 (Super Kev, Franny Jeffers)

2013 Aston Villa 2-2 (Osman, Baines)

2023 Chelsea 2-0 (Doucoure, the lad we did a PSR swap with Villa for)

Some important results in big games, there. Funny to think on my first visit we were saying how sad it would be that we would be leaving Goodison... only took the quarter century.

Of course, had Kenwright not been in situ, I might have had more reason to go more often. The question now is, can I be arsed going more regularly from here in Berlin under these Friedkins...

We live in interesting times.

Nothing to do at all with how the stadium looks. It has (unbelievably) 50k Evertonians inside it.

The performances are dreadful because the manager and coaching staff are unable to set up a team capable of winning matches.

That's all there is to it.

That's true enough, of course.

But it's a bit soulless and I cant help but think away players going in look at it as a neutral venue...that's because it pretty much is. It's a general event arena.

This issue of Evertonisation needs looking into and resolved very quickly.

Sunderland, Wolves, Leeds, Brentford, Bournemouth.. haven’t beaten any of those in our last games - and haven’t really deserved to either.

All of our games recently have been tight and could have gone either way, it’s just odd that recently, the away games are the ones that have all been going our way.

Also, we haven’t won a night game at home yet apart from Mansfield, roll on the next daytime game…

Regardless of the score mate you'll be blown away by the stadium. It wont be a wasted journey just on that level.

Not for me, just easy excuses to say "away teams are looking forward to playing here because its a new stadium and not branded"

I would be too if I had 1 striker to mark, no full backs going beyond their wingers, centre mids coming on as wingers, centre mods played as 10s and traffic cones getting number 9 shirts

In fact as an away manager, I'd be fuming if I came away from the HDS without 3 points.

The away team get 1 welcome and 1 welcome only nearly every single game and that's the Everton line up

Currently sitting there with lowest win perecentage at home in the last five seasons. Think about that for a second and give your head a wobble if you don’t think Moyes should be booted in the summer.

I'm actually more excited by the ground than by the match. Which I suppose is a microcosm of Everton right now.

I watched that ground be built, like the rest of us, brick by brick every day. I visited it during construction in 2023 on the weekend of my last Goodison visit. So, it feels like something very familiar, emotionally.

But we need a team fit for it if it is not to become merely an investment vehicle and nothing else.

I didn’t realise we only got points for the home games. 37 points is about right and maybe slightly higher than where this squad should be in the table.

We play differently away from home. More compact and get forward in numbers more carefully.

Moyes stated a day or so ago that we cant play that way at home. I'd like to know why.

Why does he believe he has to play less cautiously at home against better coached and more pacy opponents?

You pick your ground to fight on that suits what you have.
