The most likely outcome would be that Arteta would be sold for more than the £12M quoted but Moyes would see only a fraction of the money and the rest would go toward servicing club debts.

I notice Moyes has said today 'I dont think we'll be selling anyone'. Which wasn't exactly a firm 'no, get lost, they're not for sale' message you'd expect from the manager of a ravaged squad.

Well if we sold Arteta and didnt replace him with Messi or Kaka, im fairly sure there would riots and its bye bye Bill. We consider ourselfs to be above protests, but the brown stuff will hit that fan if he goes.

Everton - No approach for Everton's Arteta

Balague when questioned regarding the possibility of a deal said the following.

'I can tell you that, at this moment in time, the player has not heard from Arsenal regarding a move and that, even if he had, Everton are very unwilling to sell,

Zaragoza enquired about the Spanish midfielder's availability around 12 months ago and were told that it would take a bid of at least £25 million before Everton would even consider letting him go. Now that Arteta is back on form and playing some of his best football, its very hard to imagine that Everton would even contemplate selling such an in form and key player to a Premiership rival for as little as £12 million.'

I cant agree with that. He was bought for £2m and anything that gives us in excess of a £10M profit will be creamed over by the sort of fans who see football in cost-benefit terms...which is too bleedin' many for my liking. If we got £15-20M for him and a striker was brought in for a reasonable amount of cash, the deal would be sold as common sense finaces + not wanting to stand in the way of Arteta's ambition (as was the case with Gravesen). There'd be no protests, just a dumb acceptance of 'football industry' logic.

Good point uve made there Dave, but i consider there to be lot more blues that would see the bad, rather than the "good".

Tommy was a fairly important part of our team when he left, but nowhere near as important as Mikel is now, his contract was due to expire, so that was seen as good business, we got £2.5m for a player that had 6months left anyway, he wasnt going to sign another contract.

Mikel has recently? signed a 5 year contract and whilst we all liked Tommy, we all adore Mikel, well, everyone should.

Wayne F'in Bridge just went to City for 10M. I'm beginning to think that this was just a ploy for Wenger to get fans off his back and say that "he tried".

If and its a big if he goes it has to be on out terms and £10m well it simply dosnt come close to our valuation.

I just dont see it happening.

We don’t want to be selling any of our players, not just key players. We have such a small squad we need to increase in size and quality. Recent form has us all looking forward to the next half of the season. I remember loosing Gravison when we had about 40 points then we just scraped in 4th with about 20 odd points. We won’t get anywhere near £20M for Mikel and even then we’ll only get half to spend.

Every year we look forward to the transfer window then when it comes we are all shitting our pants because we may loose key players that have been in form. I just hope we get to keep what we’ve got and add some cover through some loan deals.

I’m looking forward to the next 4 league games, in our current form. I just hope we all feel optimistic after the window closes.

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes could pay up to £12m for Bridge.

If Bridge is worth 12m, that puts Mikels market price at roughly 60m.

No judging by that logic it makes Baines worth 60M, Bullard 90M, and Lescott 120M there isn't enough zeros to put a value on Arteta.

Just heard from the same security pal that minded tevez and family in the penthouse at canary wharf that the place is being made ready for a spanish footballer as we speak, and that he wont be flying in as he is already a resident.
