Have foreign players been given a fair crack under Moyes compared to British ones

Not sure you understand.

I did not question their ability, i said they were utter bulbs. Which they were, both have admitted as much. How can somebody play a guy who turns up to training stinking of booze ?

If you repllied to people using more temperate language then your point would come across better.

As it was you lost me at "are you for real".

After that you were always struggling.

... but just look at the resounding successes both VDM and Drenthe have had away from EFC. Obviously Moyes was the problem!

Drenthe's been out the game for almost a year...clearly in his case he is the problem.

Still, that doesn't mean the OP doesn't have a case, however wobbly. On balance, I'd still say there is no case to answer, but that it can and does happen in the workplace and that Moyes may have been guilty of not possessing more advanced communication skills (or not having anyone in the setup to do that job).

more than just the op's idea but I'd love to know why players like Neville or osman are never criticized by him but he has no problem throwing a young player under the bus.

This thread is ace, reminds me of the last game I went to with a lad I know, first time i'd been the game with him...... he embarassed me the whole feckin game shouting out stupid things from the back of the Gwladys street, one of his best was aimed at Gibson..after Osman took a shot " what the feck are you doing Gibson you scottish cnut....you've been sh1t all season"

I crawled inside my coat and hid ha ha . Never ever go the game with him ever again.

I assume someone has mentioned how Bily is getting dropped by his current team for being out of shape? I guess speaking the same language doesn't help if you don't remember to mention not to put on two stone over the winter break.

Anyway, not to defend OP, but I do believe over the years we have had some benefit from a better than average team spirit. Part of that (not all) probably comes from having a (mostly) English speaking squad who can communicate easily and build better personal relationships. Moyes is also a relatively active manager on game day in terms of instructions so having players who understand him easily is also advantageous (I'll take snide "be better if they couldn't understand him" comments as read ... we get it).

Now that does NOT mean I believe he punishes those who don't speak English as well. I'm just saying I do think it's a preference (in fact I believe he has spoken openly about that) to get in people who speak English (although as others have pointed out ... race has nothing at all to do with it). However in the cases where they aren't as fluent it would do nobody any good to have a vendetta against them and I don't believe he does.

The Prem has always had more luck with players from certain parts of the world than others. Language plays a role but so does climate, culture and a host of other issues that have little to nothing to do with the manager (aside from his willingness/ability to push through various "personal assistant" roles which can help players adjust to life in a new country or ability to group players based on home region so they have cultural matches in the squad).
