Gah! Swerving this thread.

C'mon cheeks...this thread would like to hear your views at this moment. Frak the vaults.

the injuries when we were at our peak leading up to the derby loss really killed our momentum. I don't know how we could be so unlucky as to have all those key players injured at once

We were incredibly unlucky and agree it killed our momentum. But now we have them all back (almost all).

I don't get it why people blame BK this window. Cleary it was RMs intention to not spend in January. Aiden McGeady has not lived up to the words RM has spoken about him. Traore has been a bad joke.

Still believe in you Roberto, but learn from this window. COYB!

Aye, I can go with that.

McGeady is badly rusty, I always said next season is the season for him not this.

Not just badly-rusty. He doesn't look good enough full-stop.

Martinez said he had money to spend and chose not to spend it.

So as much as I dislike the board for him to go on record and say that means it was his decision. Saying that I dare say many of us have been in a similar situation. Hindsight is a wonderful beast.

If anyone really thinks that the summer will be different then I feel sorry for you. It'll be just the same as any other year, regardless of who the manager is, regardless of where we are in the league, regardless of the squad depth.

I'm barely hanging on to my conviction that I'm gonna give BK until the end of the summer window...one thing that's keeping me withdrawing my support for him completely is the statement from Martinez that he had money to spend in January and chose not to spend it.

The summer window will put us fencesitters right, one way or the other.

Barely????

You are one of the ones here who does not believe what his eyes tell him that Kenwright, Elstone et al are on a glorious junket for THEMSELVES and they provide little going forward in the roles that they have and that is to provide the where with all to progress EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

They are chancers and are after a very large pay day that they very obviously dont warrant.

Clap, clap.

Are there no nagging doubts why we've had a negative net spend over 14 years ?

The optimist reset the Kenwright relationship after Martinez joined.

But the mood is turning dark already...I hope we did have money to spend and the January window was Martinez's balls-up. This will at least give us a chance of a good summer.

yes. it was a move that had me miffed if i'm looking short term, but martinez isn't o'neill, he's not just going to throw a £9m at a reo-coker just because the money's available. he was clearly thinking long term and made the decision any players available would not prove to be value for worth.

For example batshuyai seems to be his number 1 target, but he wasn't available in jan, but may very well be in the summer. i've always said i'll wait to see what he does in the summer before judging. lets just hope it doesn't appear as it always does and he hasn't missed a trick.

it's his first season and he's planning on what he can achieve at everton in the long time, not just a short term fix, where we could have risked everything in this season and paid for it for the next 3/4.

all about hindsight.

It'll be the same old story this summer lads. We will sell our best players (I expect to see a big bid for Coleman at least and maybe even Mirallas) at the end of the transfer window with no time for RM to have found replacements to actually buy. We will get a couple of last minute loans in which only serve to tide us over for another season (there are no decent players available to buy in January either).
We cannot build on loan signings as we just end up with different players year after year. Considering that it can take weeks or months for a team to settle and gel we will never be in a position where we have a settled team and system for a whole season and that is why 6th or 7th is the most we will achieve. I wish BK would prove me wrong and give RM £30m to spend without letting players leave.

good post that

For 70 mins today we looked comfortable a soft pen but Clatteberg missed the one on SP in the first half just as much as a pen!
Sadly, it was a silly penalty to concede and Barry looked tired at that point. Clear penalty though and I don't think Barry even contested it as he knew he had caught the Ox.
