Has Fellaini really got a £22m buyout clause in his contract ?

So assuming Chelsea finish top 4 this season which looks pretty nailed on! You are telling me that they could buy him last summer and buy him next summer but can't buy him this jan? That's just crazy...

Just because Mcnumpty said it doesn't make it true though mate, for all we know we have already agreed a deal with someone.

Maybe Fellaini loves us unconditionally has decided to hate his dad, that's the only way I see him staying.

If someone does want him then I am sure they wouldn't have to pay much more than the 22m clause anyway. I can't see Everton turning down a bid of 25m+, we are fookin skint and that kind of wedge will keep the BK circus ticking over nicely for a few years!

There isn't a clause for £22M & he won't be sold this window, unless there's an absolutely ridiculous offer.

The lad will move on when he wants to, that's how it works, if he wants to go in the summer then he'll go.

Thing I don't get is this champions league business! People sayin Chelsea can't activate clause because they not in CL? They are the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS and started the season in the CL. They are currently one of the premier leagues representatives in the competition...i just don't get it??

They're not they got knocked out. Currently they are not in the Champions League. They may qualify again come the Summer, but with the FSW in charge they may not. But we wouldn't know that til May, as of now they are not a team in the Champions League.

he will go to chelsea alright, we don't have the money to break into the top 4 and
it kills me to say we will just finish short of the top 4 again because we don't have the
dosh to buy another good striker and midfielder in this transfer window.

Let's say that someone does want to buy him in this transfer window. If there is a release clause in his contract, but the team who wish to buy him cannot trigger it for some reason (maybe because they are not a Champions League club at present eg Chelsea, or the clause can only be activated in the Summer), I wonder how much above the release clause figure Everton would be willing to let him go for.

For example, let's assume the release clause figure is £27m, would the club turn down a £30m bid now, in the hope that if we don't let Fellaini go, he could push us on to a top 4 finish? Or do you think the club would let him go for £30m, using the view point that in 4 months time we will probably have to let him go for £27m?

If anyone bids £30m for him we'd never see a transfer go through so fast mate!

But where would that leave Moyes? He has already said we won't be selling anyone in January. If Fellaini IS sold this month as the result of a release clause being triggered then I guess the club could 'hide' behind that fact, "it was out of our hands" etc. But if he is sold and it isn't a result of a release clause, then how do the club explain that one away, especially as it is obvious that Moyes doesn't want to sell him. What sort of message is that putting out to people about our ambitions?

Its funny how the speculation about a release clease has only come about since Fellaini said he would stay until the end of the season, and then later he would see out his contract.

Media stirring????

Moyes will know what is in his contract. If there is such a clause though, Moyes needs to tie up a deal for a replacement before he is sold, otherwise prices will double with clubs knowing we are looking for a replacement with cash to burn. As long as he doesn't leave it until the last minute on deadline day to sell, like Arteta.

Smells of someone trying to unsettle a player. A release clause doesnt need to be out in public so someone has either made it up or got info off reps and leaked it out to the media in an attempt to unsettle the player and the club he plays for. Plenty of players have release clauses in their contracts but you dont see new articles making the front page of BBC Sport do you, to me its someone trying to unsettle EFC as a whole, and its ****ing snidey.
