Has Fellaini really got a £22m buyout clause in his contract ?

You sure? I've always thought it to have been £15m.

No I'm not tbh. But the fee would have been paid in Euros, and there were many reports at the time that it was €15m. There were also many reports that it was £15m, which the club didn't deny (unsurprisingly). Depends on what you want to believe, but I'm convinced it was €15m.

I stand to be corrected though by anyone who knows for sure.

Suppose both figures were put about at the time. I'm sure someone who knows their stuff on here said it was £3m a year for 5 years though - maybe someone can confirm?

Well it was defo 5 payments of 3m something, that's for sure. It was well advertised at the time.

I'm not bothered if we sell him because we actually done boss without him against West Ham, Wigan and Chelsea and Moyes will get better players in.

Why would he want to go join THAT Chelsea.

I know obviously he'd get more money, but there is no other club in this league that could offer him the role and freedom on the pitch like us, if he goes to Chelsea he just becomes Mikel, United he doesn't get a game because Fergie has lost the plot with midfielders not called Carrick, City.. There fraud of a manager has completely ruined Yaya.

I'd be proud to see him put on an AC MIilan shirt or something though, maybe this french site knows something we don't though like PSG are actually the team about to come in for him.

I'm not overly fussed because I know what Moyes can do with money.. as do we all, but it all boils down to weather Moyes would be able to spend most if not all of the money.

If there was a clause at 22Mil though I have to say I would rather keep him. However If offers where coming in for 25+ then its something to consider.

We say we wont be that fussed because of the money we'd generate, but lets be honest guys, Moyes want see 100% of the transfer fee received, he'd be lucky to get a little over half.

This is the problem isn't it. I think the release fee is 27M but as said I would imagine moyes would only see the 15M initial outlay back to reinvest. Big difference between the two figures when replacing someone like Fellaini.

Moyes did receive all the lescott money mind but received none of arteta's money. Maybe with the extra tv money he would get it all which if so I believe we'd come out the other end a stronger team.

Either way I'm pretty sure he will be here till summer unless not being a CL team Chelsea make a silly offer in jan which I don't see happening.

27M + for Fellaini with moyes getting the cash is quite exciting.
15M to spend would make loosing him really depressing.

I'm not so sure.

What about if Moyes was to find 2 x players similar to Mirallas who he paid 6m for, for around 7.5m each? (without the silly string hamstrings of course)

so Fellaini out and 2 in....(puts on bad Lancashire accent) I say you buy one, you get one free

Thing I don't get is this champions league business! People sayin Chelsea can't activate clause because they not in CL? They are the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS and started the season in the CL. They are currently one of the premier leagues representatives in the competition...i just don't get it??

No quotes in the article above.

Then again, no sound from our club. When we're silent like that we really don't come up with anything good afterwards, do we? I am wholly against selling this month because we simply would not be able to cope with bringing in a replacement. Typically, we'll drag it out, complete the deal on the 28th, and scramble like idiots for jarg dutchmen later.

It's like this mate.

Chelsea aren't in the Champions League.
Chelsea haven't qualified for the Champions League next season.
Chelsea aren't a Champions League team right now.

So assuming Chelsea finish top 4 this season which looks pretty nailed on! You are telling me that they could buy him last summer and buy him next summer but can't buy him this jan? That's just crazy...

They could still make like a normal bid which is not eligible for the buyout clause, but that means they'd have to bid like £45m.

No it isn't.

People are making a lot of assumptions here. Firstly, that there's a clause at all that can be activated by another CLUB

Secondly, that any clause would automatically be capable of being actioned in any window & not be specified as just the summer windows only.
