Not really as with all of them we knew what we were getting really.
A solid stepping stone of a defender, a backup/ex-National team goalie, a winger with pace and a bit of trickery. The only one to last longer was probably Bolasie, but there we go.

This is in no way an endorsement to sign him, but he's decent. What's intriguing to me is that he's decent, while being clearly overweight and undisciplined. How good could he be if he was in shape and part of a better squad? Koeman would get him in shape, no question. But why is he so careless with giving away the ball? His dribbling skills are really good and he does make these dare I say Beckenbaurish runs upfield with the ball. Granted, they are completely pointless and result in absolutely nothing good from what I could ever tell, but there is obvious skill there, just rather misplaced.
I wonder how bad a Maguire paired with someone quicker and more skilled (Lemos, Llorente) would be? Is it going to challenge the top 4? Not sure, but there ar Somme overpriced and bad defenders at some of the top EPL clubs. Would I rather have Koulibaly? Of course.

Well those runs are only good if your teammates are decent as well, I'd guess Barkley/anyone in our team is better with the ball than the Hull players...
He's probably a bit better than what we have, but for the money and what we hoped were our ambitions then that isn't good enough.
We're still shopping in Lidl, which is disappointing.
I'd say he's a bit more Asda tbh.
still waiting to see if are ambitions are the same as the clubs, we will find out soon enough, if its a bright new world he isn't what we need to get top 4, if its the same old Everton he is the type we will go for little risk ,bit better than we already got.

Their midfield and attacking options were bad. Really bad.
Still say for the money, not sure he's overall much better than what we have, but he does give us something we don't have in terms of his size and ability in the air. Just think he's too heavy and his reactions seem slow.
He's also still young though so no doubt will get better/fitter...
As you say tho, the money might be a bit too much.

I like him. He's a big grock that can play and still young. Think we've missed a defender like that for a while.
They must have been very surprised at our final finishing place and goals against column then.
I wasn't referring to your opinion alone about VVD really.
But, I think anyone should dismisses a twenty four year old centre half with only thirty premiership games under his belt after a season playing with a team that was relegated.
