I wasn't referring to your opinion alone about VVD really.
But, I think anyone should dismisses a twenty four year old centre half with only thirty premiership games under his belt after a season playing with a team that was relegated.

The reaction to Gueye springs to mind.

Reminds me of Richard Dunne. Not a terrible player, but limited. And we need options out the back with a player who can play as well as put his head in where boots and elbows are flying.

Dunn actually did most of the stuff that 'Echo favourite' Gough was apparently doing. All he did was point and talk.

Disagree there mate, I was horrified when we bought Gough. Never changed my mind so quickly about a player in my life. Definately goes in to "if only he was 10 years younger"pile. Only Martyn would trump him on that one for me.

I would happily take a peak Richard Dunne into Everton now. A decent player and definitely had the leadership qualities that we lack.

Way over-rated. He had a pair of legs and lungs in Dunne and he played to the gallery about 'the first five yards are in your head' stuff and vastly hyped up his importance. At Spurs he was very good. Then at Rangers he was ok in a rubbish league. Then he arrived here with zero pressure because we were on the floor.

A self publicist who used to speak of himself in the third person. I was delighted when Don Hutchison snotted him.

If we get him he'll get time to prove himself. I have big doubts about him though. It suggests we aren't going to be playing a great deal of footy out from the back.

Have him all day long. We need players that will battle and stand up and be counted and not duck out of a challenge. Play him alongside Williams and that would be a good partnership. Still need another centre back though, as I think Jags will be used sparingly next season. We would have Holgate and Mori, Jags, Williams and Maguire and/or ANother..
