Current Affairs Harry and Meghan Part 3: I can't think of a snappy subtitle

She has jumped the shark with the suicide claim. Just not plausible. All it does is give ammo to those who believe Harry has been manipulated by her.

Don't want to call her a liar, or side with Piers Morgan on anything, and I haven't actually seen the interview (just the cliffs notes), but.... yeah, that's a fairly obvious lie in my eyes.

I've only seen the clip about commenting on the colour of their kid's skin - which, obviously, is wrong on many levels.

But, she's an actress. I'm not saying she's lying. But let's face it, her and Oprah know how to play things up for dramatic effect.

However, I do think the press' treatment of her has been horrid, and it's weird that they couldn't just have their marriage and have been allowed to get on with their lives.

I do also think that if they were really not bothered about publicity, and is this more of a PR thing than Harry and Meghan themselves, then they'd not go and do a 3-hour interview with Oprah. Then again... if they feel that's the right thing to do then who am I to say otherwise?

But your first post was speaking in fact. Of course it's plausible for a pregnant person to contemplate suicide, especially with the added pressure. I know this from experience.

Anyone can contemplate suicide; I just don't think it's plausible for her. Not because she's rich, beautiful etc. etc. but because if she had felt that way, they would have left for the US and cut ties with the Royals quicker, they wouldn't have ummed and arred about staying 'half in', they wouldn't have set up a Sussex Royal brand and meticulously planned every level of it - a pregnant woman who is suicidal would have been a time of desperation and speed, not reputation management.

It screams of someone using all the right keywords to paint themselves as the victim in order to profit off it.

The Americans are the only people interested in this pair. I honestly don't think anyone in the UK gives a monkey's. They are both incredibly boring.

Begs the question the traffic here also the continuing headlines in our media. The print press in the UK are spitting venom because a large part of their future income is now beyond much of their control. Our media can't pull their antics in other countries would bankrupt them in the courts in seconds, hence why the couple have flittered off.

Just watched my first clip on Meghan talking about mental health, shocking that alone, "HR"...

Not sure what to make of all this. Nobody looks particularly good from what I have read.

The one thing I am absolutely not buying is the stuff about the spotify and netflix deals. The idea the money they could make had not crossed their mind is pretty ridiculous.

Ha did they seriously say that?

They set up a literal brand in preparation of half-leaving the royal family. It was their primary motivation for going.

Haven't seen the interview, just read the bbc live text coverage of it this morning so not sure of entire context. But this is a bit from about 3am on their feed.....

Money grabbing royals?

Oprah asks the couple about some of the current criticism they face - that they're "money grabbing royals", funding a life of luxury with deals with Spotify and Netflix.
Harry and Meghan insist this was "never their intention".
"We genuinely hadn't thought about it before," Harry says, adding that he was just looking for "enough money to pay for security".

Who gives a toss about the Royal Family anyway? Bunch of no marks.

Even worse are the extreme pro Royal civis that think they matter.

Personally I'm interested in the propaganda aspect from all sides. How peoples' opinions can be shaped so easily.

The actual subject matter, objectively, is absurd, and why anyone would care beyond being concerned about usage of taxpayer money is baffling.

Haha well, I mean... that's blatantly, clearly, 100% a total lie.

Someone with a functional brain mate.

I don't get the strong feelings on them either way.

Twitter is now full of people saying the royal family should be condemned to the past etc etc; these will be the same people chuffed to bits when they had a day off for William and Kate getting married.

Haha

Yeah, I just don't really think to pick a side on this, so I'm firmly fence sitting.

I don't hate the royals. I don't particularly like them either. They're just a thing.

I do think the general media treatment of Meghan over here compared to Kate was disgusting. But I'm not going to take everything in a staged interview as gospel.

It's just another thing for people to argue about, as if there wasn't enough of that, and it has absolutely no impact on anyone's lives.
