Current Affairs Harry and Meghan Part 3: I can't think of a snappy subtitle

He deserved to be sacked for the way he shouts over people, including his co-presenter. He can often be somewhat effective but it's not worth the trade off. He's clearly a very arrogant, rude person. So if he were sacked for his behaviour over a consistent period of time, fine.

That said, being sacked for not automatically believing what someone says with little to no corroborating evidence is ridiculous IMO.

If people disagree with him, argue back and say why he's wrong. Debate him. But that doesn't happen anymore - instead it's a constant "cancel anyone who doesn't fit the narrative" routine.

How you gonna debate a guy who doesn’t let you speak and shouts over you whilst also having the power to end the interview as soon as it starts getting uncomfortable for themselves (as we saw today)

This isn’t an example of cancel culture either, the guys literally going to walk straight into another extremely well paid job in the public eye. The relentless crying about cancel culture is the most overhyped play the victim BS going at the moment.

Indeed.

Loads of reasons to sack him. Believing Meghan is a liar isn't one of them in my eyes. She's put herself out in public for critique - she has no automatic right to be believed solely because she's said something out loud.

he’s not been sacked for believing or not believing something. He’s been sacked for publicly broadcasting his opinion, that someone’s claim about their own mental health is a lie, which is something he cannot possibly know. And broadcasting it on a channel running mental health campaigns about the importance of talking about mental health. It’s massively irresponsible, and flies in the face of the channel’s own position on the topic.

That's actually the worst part - by cancelling people you force them into 'hotspots', and you end up with QAnon, Fox News, Murdoch etc.

Whereas if you debate them and reason beyond their arguments you nullify them.

Cancelling is why we have extremes in society now. Everyone wants a fully agreeable platform/safe space where they aren't challenged, so they never evolve their opinions and instead continue to yell into and listen back in their own echo chambers.

He can't possibly know she's telling the truth either.

No one can.

Do you think when a pregnant women claims she’s suffered mental health issues and suicidal ideation, that calling her a liar on national TV to an audience of millions is a responsible thing to do? Either to the woman in question or to others who many suffer from mental health issues?
