2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

He was probably our best player when he came on. Strong, positive, confident, tried to make things happen. I think he'll be a starter next time out. Moyes is more likely to trust Harrison to do a "utility" job than have Tyrique as an out and out winger.
It’s the word “ trust” that’s key with Moyes and you’re right he knows he does as he’s told and can be trusted to obey Moyes ‘s instructions. I don’t believe Moyes trusts him enough to start him ahead of Gueye yet though or enough to change the formation to better suit Armstrong’s abilities. That’ll come, Moyes is instinctively a cautious manager he doesn’t change quickly.

Gana has reached the point where he's hindering us more than helping us now. Playing the likes of Tarky and Keane in the back 4 necessitates having someone to cover them. Playing Jarred and Jake would enable us to sit higher up the pitch and play a technically better midfielder who's sole job isn't just to cover them. Also enabling a higher press.

The amount of times teams get on the counter with us caught upfield having massive gaps between defence and midfield with 2 passes is mind boggling.

Never understood playing young players out wide. The risk of making an error is still really big if you do it at full back or let your man go as a winger. Perhaps in the past it wasn’t as bad but now days if one player makes a positional error teams are so good at exploiting it. You can’t just write off winger or fullback positions as training opportunities.

If the lad is good enough to play he should be played in his correct position.

Playing a young lad winger to protect him is a 90s state of mind.
DM wingers = Osman - DCL - Victor - Vaughn - Rodwell - Barkley - all of the top of my head in his first spell - His signing of James Beattie striker wise was a massive waste of money only Yakubu when the Russian benefactor hit our club was a prize CF - no to say the players he did start on the wing did not come very good eventually in our team barring 2-3 got very bad injuries -

DM stated - he would look again in the championship before the summer transfer window as he had done before with great success - Cahill - Stones & Lescott & Baines as examples - yet he never he seemed to purchase from abroad a left back who came on & looked fast & Barry who has had a good chance , but as cost far too much & the mystery of Dibling another huge layout maybe a spell of game time in the under 23s is the answer for him ... & the way Barry looked after being substituted .....
we also need a left back & a right back .....

Moyes should be bold and start Armstrong in the middle for the rest of the season, in place of Gana. His growth potential over the final 13 / 14 games is huge and will pay off next season as well as this.

I'd have KDH 'replace' Gana and partner Garner for the rest of the season.

Then i'd also be using young players as much as I could not to negatively risk results too much.

All focus on next seasons 11 and player development without throwing games away.

At home he pays with a midfield TWO - KDH is in a no 10 role with Gana just playing anywhere - it leaves us wide open to counter attacks when we play at home - we need a solid midfield 3 with James Garner pivotal as the CM - HA & KDH - meaning up top has to be changed Nydaye & Alcaraz would stop hoof ball to a poor isolated CF - we need overlapping fullbacks both on the left & right ....

Can someone explain what Armstrong actually did last night to warrant that kind of reaction? He was playing out of position and still looked dangerous, linked play well, and was always looking to move the ball forward, yet at 19 he’s being wrote off by absolute mings (who's liking tweets like this???)

I'd be made up if he ends up being as good as Osman, personally.

Yeah, there’s a balance to be struck because we still have a lot to play for this season but I do believe playing Armstrong is on the right side of that balance

I wouldn't go out of my way to say it like that tweet but it's very tough for young players to break through and have a career at the top level.

I think Armstrong looks a lot better than he did 12 months ago so hopefully he can keep on progressing. No bad thing to have someone come through the academy and have a career like Osman btw. Been a long time!

Anything could happen and he might not break through (even though he kinda already has), but there’s far more evidence to suggest he will make it than that he won’t.
