Already better than plenty of midfielders we could/would go out and spend £20m+ on. And they would no doubt need 18 months to settle and adjust to the PL etc etc.

Let him go back to Preston. Be part of a squad competing for something, chasing something massive.

Back in for day 1 of pre-season ready to fight for a starting place. He’s hugely important for me as we move away from the stale, Gana plus whoever else is available midfield. Not that bothered whether he is an 8, 10 or a 6.75. He looks to just be a good “midfielder”. Always knows how much time he has because he constantly scans, and when he has time, currently looks to progress the ball. The longer we wait before Evertoning that out of him the better.

No disrespect to Preston, but if you had been watching him all season there then you'd probably be saying different.
They were a brilliant move for him and kept him up to speed with the game, but Moyes has already moved him right up in the pecking order and played him every game.
If he carries on getting the gametime with us "sorry preston" but that would be a step backwards in development now.

Why start him today if your sending him back Monday..

He definitely wasn’t poor, I’d love to see Tim or gana or Rhol even garner play right wing in a defence set up. Never had any support every time he gets the ball he wants to play forward, but his options were Barry, ndyiae on the
Left 40 yards away and maybe KDH.
I do think from 65 onwards he started to lose the ball and got bullied, but again most Everton players turn around and pass backwards, he doesn’t want to do that. But wasn’t getting a load of options to play forward.
Twice in the later stages he was having a go at Barry.

Definitely, but for as long as Moyes has Gana, Garner and Dewsbury-Hall available Armstrong won't be getting a start in those positions so I'm happy to see him getting minutes in other positions.

I agree. Garner absolutely bosses the midfield when Gana isn't playing. Whatever the reason for that it, the solution is quite simple - bench Gana and play with the three you suggest.

He played the John McGinn role used by Emery who also plays week in week out in that position. To block play through the middle.

Thought he was fine today. He's still finding his feet in terms of figuring out how many touches he can have etc.
Physically he can hold is own though. I thouhght he was pinged for a lot of soft fouls

Coming on great this kid doesnt look out of place in the Prem.
Today out wide he was fouled a lot but still kept going forward.
Thought he tired and lost his way and should have come off 10 mins earlier ( same for Gana ) , in those 10 mins he was disposessed twice and misplaced 2 passes.
But overall pretty good.

I think he's struggled a bit last 2 games, after initially being fantastic I think his confidence has taken a slap.

He's gonna be a fantastic baller. Very excited to see him anchor that midfield for the next decade.

….i think it says more about the other options than it does about Armstrong. With KDH back, I was very surprised to see his name on the team sheet, amazing vote of confidence in the young man, very interested to see if he goes back to PNE in the next 24 hours or so.
