Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

You do wonder if City wouldn't be better off keeping some of the academy players they flog so they wouldn't suffer from poor squad depth as they are now. Palmer is an obvious example, but Lavia would surely add something to them right now, as would Harwood-Bellis, Liam Delap, Morgan Rogers et al.

Is this more than just losing Rodri?

12 players over 29. At a certain point after winning game after game, year on year it will take its toll mentally and physically.

The beauty with Alex Ferguson is that he brought through the youth that were hungry every game until the end...because they were also fans.

Guardiola, with hindsight of course...should have integrated several young players that they sold. They need to do the same as us...change half of their squad and rebuild.

It does open questions of the supposed super managers.

He has consistently had the most resources and inherited title winning and some cases euro cup winning squads, no doubt a dedicated and brilliant coach, but is he really that far ahead of others?

Kompany who struggled so much last season is now top of the Bundesliga by 6 points because he has the best players. Its why I put managers who genuinely changed the clubs they were at ahead of him.

Shows that alot is about timing and suitability with managers and clubs.

There’s no manager that’s lived such a charmed existence without having to really lay the groundwork somewhere and literally build from scratch.

Barca B - Future stars in a crap league
Barca - Incredible squad
Bayern - European champions
City - English champions

Every club has also had vast resources compared to 99% of those around them.

Some managers will everything at their disposal e.g Pep and Carlo will be lauded for winning titles.

But the very best managers are those who themselves are the key factor in building up teams into winners.

Until Pep joins a team down the pecking order and builds them up i dont see how he can be considered elite.

I agree on the mental edge that repeatedly winning takes off.

I think the best teams move about three players in and three out per season, many more and it's too disruptive, fewer it gets stale.

I always felt that Pep has shocking personal skills, he's alienated that many over the years that must take a toll on the collective. Ferguson had his bust ups, but Guardiola's relentless intensity is draining.

I would have died for peak Mourinho, been scared of Ferguson and tuned Guardiola out in no time.

Oh hello, we've got a klassen-ite here

I’m sure once he’s spent yet another few hundred million, he’ll be back to brushing teams aside with ease. All while dressed like a geography teacher on a school retreat.
And you’ll all be eating your words.

Those who know, know.
Well, since City has pretty much been telling the PL to:
Go [Poor language removed] Yourself.gif
With regards to FFP, I can see baldy going out in the January window and splurging big to cover the holes in his squad. 🤷‍♂️

He doesn’t look at all well tbh, exactly how your typical rs looked when woy managed them, mad how a bit of adversity can affect some.

They could never be us.

Is the illusion of competition such that Manchester City magically not winning every week and walking the league is absolutely sacrilegious and the biggest news in the sporting world?

It’s a sport. It’s a competition. The same team shouldn’t be expected to win it year after year after year ffs.

The media have a lot to answer for.

Rs’s starting xi average age is higher

There are enough examples of failing managers with money that tells me that his achievements should not just be looked at with how much has been spent in mind.

There are still skills, that a lot do not possess, that are needed to make a team successful. I certainly do not believe that he is the best manager ever but there is an element to him that has to be respected.

They have to sell them really to make it look like they're playing like a regular football club and FFP

If you look at their "net spend" over the last 5 years they're 11th and £100mill has come from the academy.

Exactly. City had tons of money before he showed up there and they were nowhere near as good
