You do wonder if City wouldn't be better off keeping some of the academy players they flog so they wouldn't suffer from poor squad depth as they are now. Palmer is an obvious example, but Lavia would surely add something to them right now, as would Harwood-Bellis, Liam Delap, Morgan Rogers et al.
To some extent you’re right, but they’re operating to keep within the boundaries of profit and sustainability so their model is to make big money on the youth players.

He’s in a great position, when they (wrongfully) get off he’ll get a massive extension and he’s lauded a hero.
If the impossible happens he’ll leave and ask for what he was owed from City as a signing bonus from one of the myriad clubs after him/take legal proceedings against City. All when every trophy he’s won there will have an asterisk next to it too.
Definitely. City will have let him know they've been able to pay their way out of it. No way he'd be signing a new deal if he knew there was a chance of them being up chit creek without a paddle.
