I don't think that would come into it, to be honest. I think Wales could only qualify at the expense of England or Iran. If the USA won, they'd be on 5 and the Welsh couldn't catch them. If the USA drew or lost, the Welsh would be above them - but Iran would either be level or ahead of the Welsh in that event.

Iranian goal difference would be a factor, but only if they drew.

Wales and Iran are both on -2 goal difference as it stands. If England and US draw, and then Iran and US draw, any win for Wales would do. Lots of ifs in there though
