Groundshare?

I can't for the life of me recall where but I've viewed (online) an artists's impression of a shared stadium with Prince Rupert's Tower in one corner and a Liver Bird in the other. Anyone else seen this?

The proposal was that one corner would have dressing rooms for the Everton players and their visitors for each game and that the other corner would have the same for Liverpool.

The designer even went to the extent of suggesting that the entrance in one corner should have 'Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" over the door whilst the other would have the title of that song the kopites love to sing from Carousel.

The whole thing seemed to have been thought through quite thoroughly.

I'm no lover of the enemy but this might be an idea whose time has come. We've lived next door to them for 110 years - mostly with friendly relations existing between the two camps. It makes sense to me to put up one stadium rather than two. Greener, less expensive and a testament to the friendly rivalry that is the real history of the two clubs - not this kneejerk hatred that does a disservice to all lovers of the game.

Took me a while but I've found the article I was referring to above. It's on Toffeeweb (which I gather is not very popular here - don't know why - I've enjoyed much of the writing on it. Don't agree with everything I've read but hey...).

It was only posted in February of this year. I like the proposal (because it's sensible and uses fewer resources, is cheaper and also unique to the city) but am also sure that many readers on here will be horrified.

juventus and torino are only sharing temporarily whist the stadio del alpi is being rebuilt and then juve will move back there and torino will remain at the stadio olimpico which is to be renamed stadio grande torino in memory of the players who died in the superga air disaster.

i think we could have one of the worlds greatest stadiums if we shared but it would have to be on a 50/50 basis with the seats maybe yellow as both clubs have had yellow regularly as their away strip. the 2 statues could be placed side by side as a gesture that both clubs recognise the achievments of the other, although dixie should be slightly higher than theirs

i think it'd be best to have the seats a random array of colours (perhaps no red or blue), which would be neutral & also looks less conspicuous when there are a few gaps. although maybe a red "kop" end which would serve as our away end whilst we could have a blue home end that they could use as their away end. the key thing is that it would have to be an equitable deal or it wouldn't work.

I'd go for a shareground or stay in GP.

Never for a new stadium.

Football is for the fans and the fans want to see good players in a good side. It doesn't matter if the stadium is old, new or shared!

Keep the money and amuse us all the evertonians with some exciting players.

Again the groundshare has hit the news.

I'm for the first time seeing this as a good option for the club. The Kirkby deal just seems to uninspire me, especially the part about a 'midrange budget' stadium.

I just can't get places like the riverside, majeski and pride park out of my mind.

So we if we go in partnership we could stay in the city and play in a fantastic stadium.

If i'm honest about this its really about time BOTH clubs grew up and saw the plus points of ground sharing

Neither has got the sort of money to blow on a BIG stadium i.e 70,000 + that both clubs could on occasion fill very easily.

Kirby? cant say i'm enthused about that move tbh,it'll turn into another faceless ground on an industrial estate thats not much of an option for me.

I've thought it for years but if the Milan clubs can share a ground then surely both sets of supporters of our clubs could too.

I think that it makes a lot of sense.

First of all, after Hillsborough the whole city united. It was a symbol of something bigger than the club rivalry. So I think that it would be possible for both sets of supporters to share the same ground.

Besides, on economic terms it is the most reasonable thing to do.

I don't think it would work, maybe 15 years ago but the atmosphere isn't as friendly as it was and it'd cause too much hassle imo

It's a bit meffy isn't it. I'd rather have our own. It's also no guarantee that it would be a good stadium either, both clubs, more o us, just want a new stadium for as cheap as poss
