Apparently he was only at Alkmaar for less than 2 months before Fleetwood.

Makes no odds really, in every profession people employ who they know - my post was just explaining how it's not as random as it would first appear.

At the end of the day Brands will still run the rule and have final say on potential signings.

It's starting again isn't it..

Jobs for the boys..

Next wel have some psv boot washer on the board
Nepotism is king.

Again...

Why would it be a 'jobs for the boys scenario'? We've picked a top DoF from a club that had a very successful scouting system, who did similarly well at his previous job. Why wouldn't we want to bring in some of those people who made up those teams that were so successful? If you have worked with someone before, and know the qualities they bring and that they're good at their job it seems like a no-brainer to me.

It can still be nepotism and not jobs for the boys though. Working with Brands before will obviously make it easier to get the job but he’s gone out to Fleetwood and earned his stripes. Everton just hire any ex-player they can.

One is basically the definition of the other tho, surely?

And don't call me Shirley...

Pretty left-field this from an outsider point of view. Must have some decent credentials if Brands has brought him in.

Yes but me saying nepotism wasn't in a way to say it's doing an Everton jobs for boys again which you thought I was.

Nepotism = Brands' hiring an ex-colleague.
Jobs for boys = The club signing any old ex-blue for the crack.

Brands knowing him makes the whole thing make sense, as his CV didn't make sense.

It's a whatever kind of thing really, Brands has hired a mate, probably over someone who has better ability for the role. It happens, it's certainly not unique to Everton. What's important is that Brands is talented in his role.
