Cena will miss the European tour due to 'personal reasons'.

Any news why he isn't going?
Personal reasons is the story.
Things varying from family illness to just needing time off, suppose we'll know more soon
This basically, Bret was and still is a massive mark for himself. That doesn't make him less of an amazing wrestler but it's true. Dropping the title on your way out and 'doing the job' when you leave a company is just what's done. If Bret had just done the right thing the whole mess could of been avoided, he let his ego effect his judgment. I've never been one of Vince's biggest fans and Bret is one of my all time fav's but the facts speak for themselves and while Vince could of possibly handled the whole thing better Bret was the one at fault.Yeah if I had to pick one Bret is more to blame. It's a job. A fake Championship job. And if his employer is telling him to lose he loses.
It's like an actor in a soap being told he's being cut from the show but changing the script to stay in it!
However, Vince could have been nicer about it all.
I watched it after watching the Eric Bischoff interview with JBL (a very good watch by the way) and he said he'd have done exactly what Vince did if it had been the other way round but was happy to take advantage of it all. Although Bret was never the same.
Bret played a part in his failure while in WCW. Obviously the stupidity of WCW management played the biggest part but you could see right from the start that he didn't have the same fire he'd had while in the WWF. Yes he was booked horribly but sometimes it just felt like he was going through the motions.Bret did have the right to refuse to drop the title to Micheals in Canada as per his contract, but it was his ego that wouldn't let him even though it wouldn't have hurt his character at all to do so before debuting in WCW.
Was a real shame what happened though. Bret was one of my fave guys in WWE, WCW in typical WCW style completly wasted him, although his heart wasn't really in it (for obvious reasons).
Rumours are that Daniel Bryan will be returning on the European Tour and surely that's better than Cena.

But Bret did have reasonable creative control in his contract and would have dropped the title to pretty much anyone else on the roster, even to Shawn Micheals. Just not in Canada.
He claimed it was because it was bad for his character, and i actually agree with that, the charatcer of Bret Hart the Canadian hero fighting against the bad Americans should not be losing to his biggest on screen rival in Canada at that time. Even if there had been a rematch due it was still a bad idea. But it was definitely Bret's off screen real life ego that didn't want to lose to Micheals in Canada because deep down he hated him.
So like i said earlier, i think Bret should have lost the title to Micheals at SS97 because it was simply business, a loss didn't hurt him anywhere near as much as he was leaving as it would have done if he was staying.
I think the best part of his time in WCW came when he was US champ and playing the subtl slightly comedic heel, which gave is this classic about the winner of the Lou Ferigno look-a-like contest:

One thing about it.
Do you think if bret had left as champ and walked into wcw that bischoff wouldn't have ran that as his promo? reigning wwf champion walks out to join them? hasn't been beaten for that title etc. Vince to be fair couldn't take that risk. it would have been suicidal for him to have his champion jump ship.
