WWE don't care about you though. They care about the age 8 to 16 demographic by and large. That is what they market to. That's why the likes of Bayley are a thing, and Neville is a literal superhero character wearing a cape, and why John Cena is what he is.
So I don't think the issue is that there aren't enough main event draws coming through; I think the issue is that WWE don't really care if there are or not, as long as the characters they create appeal and sell merchandise to the kids.
That's the reason Ziggler and Cesaro etc. aren't pushed to main event status, because it'd be hard to do so with them as heels, and they wouldn't sell to the kids as faces. Bryan only got the push due to merchandise. Reigns will be the next top guy because he looks like an Action Man to the kids and appeals to the girls.
Personally I reckon it's long past time to give up on WWE being a wrestling show any time soon and just keep an eye out for the odd classic or watch NXT.
