WWE don't care about you though. They care about the age 8 to 16 demographic by and large. That is what they market to. That's why the likes of Bayley are a thing, and Neville is a literal superhero character wearing a cape, and why John Cena is what he is.

So I don't think the issue is that there aren't enough main event draws coming through; I think the issue is that WWE don't really care if there are or not, as long as the characters they create appeal and sell merchandise to the kids.

That's the reason Ziggler and Cesaro etc. aren't pushed to main event status, because it'd be hard to do so with them as heels, and they wouldn't sell to the kids as faces. Bryan only got the push due to merchandise. Reigns will be the next top guy because he looks like an Action Man to the kids and appeals to the girls.

Personally I reckon it's long past time to give up on WWE being a wrestling show any time soon and just keep an eye out for the odd classic or watch NXT.

I agree....but I think it must still be important to some...

Like I really don't want to see a return to the Hogan days...I don't want guys like ryback on top...
I don't think you can return to the attitude era either, that era was even more reckless with the crazy bumps and chairshots everyone was taking...

But it's stale right now...and clearly casual fans don't want to pay money to watch small guys wrestle and listen to PG promos.... other wise Taker and Sting wouldn't be coming back, and lesnar wouldn't be getting such a cussy deal...and wrestlemania wouldn't be promoted around part-timers...

Just think Vince & HHH need to start worrying a bit about what they're gonna do when they can't bring these guys back anymore...like Should Rollins be jobbing clean to Cena?...no way, that's bad booking for me....protect your older stars of course, but put the younger star over, that's the only way you create a new top guy...!

I agree with all that....but having kids watch the show isn't enough for wwe to stay were it is.....I don't know the money they make these days or the ratings figures (believe there low)....but one thing is clearly evident...Older wrestlers (who bring back adult fans) are helping wwe survive (survive might be too strong)....Sting wasn't brought back for the kids , they don't know him...same with Taker....
Vince always goes back to the big name stars of the past, instead of putting faith in the young guys (and he's a smart business man)....very soon , he won't be able to do that anymore...

I get that....but mayweather & McGregor are legit fighters...people pay money to watch a real fight (and many pay in the hope they see them get knocked out)....I agree about the promos, which is part of my original post, Punk could talk me into buying a PPV, Bryan couldn't but his wrestling could......how many of today's guys can talk casual fans into paying to watch a fake fight?....Reigns can't, ziggler can't, cesaro can't, rusev can't, Wyatt can't...maybe if the show wasn't PG they could...

If Ziggler came out and started swearing in his promo he'd stop being a pathetic denim wearing manchild and Raw would be pulling in 7.0's again.

PG has absolutely nothing to do with it. Wrestling hasn't been PG for the vast majority of it's existence on TV. It was just a few years in the mid 90's which itself was basically a reflection of the culture of the time, plus the fact it was a new, fresh and exciting type of wrestling.

And they could easily produce new, fresh and exciting wrestling without having to be TV-14. Look at NXT, thats PG but is a damn good wrestling show, thats why it's growing in popularity and Raw is going the other way.

WWE are basically stale now IMO. They have allowed themselves to get stuck in a rut they have no desire or need to get out of. They've got no competition, they are still THE name associated with wrestling, they are still a hugely successful company.

They could do better of course, ratings are dropping i believe but it just seems that they have their way of doing things and until they are desperate they aren't going to deviate from that.

It's pretty similar to Everton really. The owners have no interest in being as good as they possibly can, and the owners seem happy drifting along being comfortable as long as their is no threat of relegation (or bankruptcy).

If you don't beleive me go and watch a Taboo Tuesday ppv from the early to mid 00s. Now that really was bad. They'd have killed for a Wyatt or a Reigns back then.

Bayley's appeal to the pre-teen girls is truly astounding

I can't remember a female wrestler achieving such success in that demographic before. Lita's pull was mostly with teenagers

It should eventually lead to her getting on the main roster I think
