GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

Raw was so bad it's sad. What's happened to the "sport" I love so much? I'm starting to think it wont ever be good again.

:(

The thing is, and I say this having watched the "sport" for 24 years, is that the quality of wrestlers has never been higher due to the massive scouting network they have allowing for guys like Punk, Bryan, Sheamus etc to be brought over or in from indy promotions due to their reputations on that scene but the company are still too reliant on both nostalgia and using TV writers with little to no wrestling experience to book shows rather than using stars of the past like a Dusty Rhodes or a Ric Flair to use their knowledge of what's hot or not.

The fact that Triple H is more hands on with the backstage stuff and developmental is a good sign that things will improve eventually but we just have to give it time

Stevo27, with respect m8. Triple H is a big part of the problem, the guy refuses to except that anyone who isn't a bodybuilder can be a major star. Just look at his track record, all this guy did to become a star was bang the bosses daughter. Not saying I wouldn't of done it myself like but its a fact that his career was going down the drain (even being part of the kliq would only ever made him a middle of the road champ with Michels still the top guy). Him running the show for me is like Phil Neville being our manger (nice thought but not realistic). He's on record saying he never rated C M Punk, who for me is one of the only guys worth watching in wwe theses days. Wwe will have to get worse before it gets better and it will take REAL competition for them to wake up (TNA sure as hell are not real competition).

Actually hhh was a main eventer and champion before he even hooked up with Stephanie. And he also sees way more in guys than having big muscles, that's vinces thing, hhh while still probably liking a guy to be well built is way keener on smaller more athletic guys.

WWE will be stagnant as long as they exist without competition. In the early to mid 90's, WWF was very similar to the WWE of today. There wasn't really any proper competition from the second company (WCW was struggling from internal strife and was stuck in a previous decade). The upper card was filled with bland characters and the main events were rotated between the same bunch of 3-4 people to the point that there weren't any fresh matches (Shawn, Diesal, Bret and Taker). The product was aimed mostly at children and the adult auidence went off to other pursuits

Then WCW re-invented the buisness in the form of Nitro, giving WWF the kick up the bum it needed

At the moment, WWE has a product that is stale. It essentially has 3-4 top stars who rotate working with each other (Cena, Orton, Sheamus and Triple H). The number 2 company is stuck in a previous decade. The product is mainly aimed at kids and older fans are starting to move onto other things (Notably UFC)

Something needs to happen to shake things up again

Triple H was a main eventer and a champion but that was in no small thanks to his Kliq. I still would hardly call him one of there top stars until he and steph got together. Before he he got with Steph he was more on a par with Randy Orton (an ok but forgettable world champ). He'd never of reached the levels he has without being the bosses son-in-law. He's also on record saying people like C M Punk would never make believable champions as they are to small. Imo Triple H has just two people to thank for his career not failing back in the 90s, Shawn Michels (along with the Kliq) and Steph (with the mac family). Hope I'm wrong but I think he could make wwe even worse (if that's possible?).

What got Triple H over was the feud with Foley and that was before he was dating Stephanie. I don't think they got together until the summer of 2000

Foley put HHH over like nobody before and then he had the super feud with The Rock. That's what got him over. He's been coasting off that ever since (And marriage into the family of course)

The thing is though, WWE would of let Triple H go long before the Foley feud had he not been with Michels and the kliq. Were was he before the kliq? Oh ye, losing in one min to one of the Goodwins! Foley did an excellent job of putting hhh over but I'm still not sure that hhh would of been anything more then flash in the pan. Once he got with steph though he became the hardest man in the whole world. Also in early 2000 stone cold was out so wwe neaded a major storyline to cover the cracks foley-triple h was that fued, not taking anything away from hhh but the fact that he was so over was more down to foley then hhh himself (putting people over is what foley does, see randy orton!).

You're talking sense.... but.... "kliq" was my favourite part of that post.

With respect mate, Triple H has done wonders off camera for at least 2 years now. He is the reason why FCW and the NXT show were merged into 1 developmental brand, the reason why they are setting up a new training facility this summer, the reason why guys like the Shield are given a chance on the main roster, the reason Tag Team wrestling is looking stronger after years of stagnation and the sole reason why Bruno Sammartino ended his long standing hatred for the McMahon's by accepting a Hall of Fame induction this year.

This isn't 2003 anymore, the infamous 'Reign of Terror' has long gone. The guy has all the credentials to make WWE a bigger force than it is once Vince retires

Oh ye, losing in one min to one of the Goodwins!

Do you know the reason why he was doing those types of jobs back in 96? Because he took the fall for Michaels, Nash and Hall pulling the infamous Curtain Call at MSG, the night Hall and Nash wrestled for the last time in WWE before joining WCW. Had he not done that he would have won King of the Ring in the summer of that year and not Steve Austin.

I wasn't trying to be a smart arse here mate, I just wouldn't trust Triple H as far as I could throw him. If he was taking the fall for Michaels then I have little to no pity for him as he got enough good out of being his pal long enough.

I'd also say that there is a man currently working for wwe who would do a much better job (creatively speaking) then Triple H. The only guy to ever make smackdown bearable and even much better then Raw. Paul Hayman, I know Vince and Steph hate him but I can dream can't I?!

Anyone read a decent wrestling book\autobiography recently? I reread Eric Bischoff: Controversy creates cash for about the hundredth time. Brillant book, I'd love to read an Undertaker (don't see it happning though) or even Paul Hayman autobiography.
