Agreed, otherwise previously known as The Sheriffs' Bar. Always was poor although now it's just a glorified restaurant with a bar attached.

Poor ale, uptight and unfriendly regulars (the Tavs) who don't like new comers imposing on their rule and especially if you win "their" quiz.

The license is a buffoon as well but that's another matter entirely...

I agree mate, it's the suburban version of the Slaughtered Lamb. I have a family member who is a regular and everything you have mentioned above applies to him with bells on, especially the licensee !

They either keep it too long, to squeeze more money out of the barrel or don't know how to look after it in the first place .
They often go hand in hand. New establishments aren't exactly sure how to handle the ale so the quality can often end up being poor.

That means less uptake due to the pints being below par, so they put less effort into keeping it to standard. It also often means the barrel goes...

Often, although you can get contamination at the brewery or a faulty cask/shive/keystone that'll screw it up. That's why it's always worth letting the bar know about a bad pint. A good landlord or barman will appreciate it, they may not always be aware.

I think also some places over stretch themselves by having too many pumps on the bar, without the customers to drink it and it goes stale. My local has gone from three pumps to one and the beer quality has improved in spades as result.

Next up, The Three Tuns. Great pub in the heart of the city.

Excellent beers all the time, cajun food in the kitchen, terrace in the summer, live folk/bluegrass & Irish music. Choice of over 20 ales today. I've gone for Tapstone Brewery's Voodoo Juice

Terminus is The Lime Kiln, this place is a real labour of love. Formerly known as the Horse and Groom @roydo, it fell into disrepair and the new owner slowly rebuilt it from the cellar up to create a no nonsense, beer first ale house.

Neckin a nice red ale from Scarborough; Red Sky At Night.

That in/near Hotwells? Or Frogmore Street?

Christ, Bristol has some weird place names.

That's the one! Pineapples shut now. When we first moved here mrs d' indica set me right up, said to meet there, left me in there on me own then text me to say 'you having fun?' 'Fastest pint I've ever drunk. She thought it was 'kin hilarious.

Haha! Gay mate of mine was on the door once. Got a frenchie from Jordan. Long story.
