More enjoyable (imo) to do your running or cycling to/from the gym. Unless that's the focus of your gym work then it's generally more enjoyable to do it outside than inside.

Exactly, when I was into running I'd find running on a treadmill would bore the life out of me. Getting up early in the morning and running four days a week though never bored me, even when it was bucketing down with rain and freezing cold.

If I was going to go to the gym just to cycle, or go on a runner, I'd rather buy one for the house and do it there.

What have you got against using a bar?

Nothing, I've even got one, just nowhere to put it and I'm too lazy to get it out and put plates on and off all the time. Was hoping you'd suggest really powerful jumps or something ffs. I used to do weighted one legged squats, found they were good for strength but that was about it.

The only people who think one legged squats are good for strength, are people who aren't strong. They're ok for rehab, or for stability, but they're not a strength builder

If you're too lazy to load and unload a bar lol, you're too lazy to put the effort in to build your legs.

Jumps are good for strength, but you'd use them as part of a strength programme that would involve weights.

You can pick up a set of squat stands for relatively low cost, you don't need to buy a power rack.

Well I found I could do more weight the more I did them, that's the only measure I'm going off. I barely have an opinion on anything beyond that.

I'm honestly not that bad, if it's there and I can just do the exercise I'll stick to a routine like clockwork.

So basically squats are still #1 and I should just find somewhere to put it?

If i could only do one exercise I'd either squat or dead lift. Even for upper body

Take your body weight and double it, if you cant' squat that for a single in a year to two years, you're doing something wrong
