Twice a week then mate, split it into two muscle groups, for example:

Day 1 - Shoulders, back and triceps.

Day 2 - Chest and biceps.

Cheers for that. I can almost do the chest and bicep bits at home, I have a couple of dumbell thingies.

How's your weight loss/workout thing going?

I was about to post, buy yourself a couple of dumbells for home with various weights to add on and take off. Dumbells are better for shaping too, once you have some mass.

The weight loss has been too short to make any real difference, I'll weigh myself tomorrow so have probably lost a kilo or two. I'm using a boss app on my phone for logging all I eat and drink. I do three weights sessions a week and bolt on the cross trainer on one of them. I also try and do half an hour on the cross trainer at least once a week. Getting there mate thanks, it all takes time.

Do you swim at all mate? I find it's a good way to keep me actually fit. It's an amazing feeling, actually feeling fit after a whole year of not doing so.

But yeah, stick at it, and thanks for all the advice.

Yes I swim quite a bit mate, I enjoy it. A cracking exercise and good on the joints. It's why I'm using the cross trainer rather than the treadmill at the moment as I'm just under 17 stone so it's not good for the knees.

BLS, remember that just lifting weights will not help you gain weight (muscle or fat). If you are a normally skinny guy you will have to EAT way more than you think you should, along with regular, consistent lifting, to gain muscle mass. Consistency is the key!

I eat loads anyway. Loads and loads. I just excercise lots, so it's ok.

I'm not NIK skinny anyway. But thank you, i'll give it a go

As long as he's eating well enough he'll build muscle, that's where the protein shakes will help after the workout. As he builds muscle then his weight will go up as it's obviously heavier than fat, if he sustains it.

And listen to Maddison

For all I've wrote above, this is the best advice like.

I do **** all and **** all happens to me. Although I get spots when I eat **** so I'm not totally unaffected. Joined the gym though. But currently recovering. So much pain.

Then you'll be toning at best, or doing yourself damage mate. Good that you're in the habit though, get the diet to match and in no time you'll be looking as good as Reidy on holiday.

I long to be able to wear trunks like that.

I do eat quite a lot, like. Just with the job I'm doing at the moment I burn pretty much all of it off. I could do with taking a shake in to work with me each day as well really.

Take a bag of nuts in mate, it will be good for you metabolism as it will keep it fuelled before hitting the gym later and it's full of calories. Put a few chicken breasts in the oven and then have them stored for when you come in, protein tastic.

I think the weight loss is going well mate, I'll purposely swerved the scales as when I do weight myself I want to be impressed. I would imagine I'm down to about 105kg so 6kg more to go. And then we'll see.

I was thinking of cooking whole chickens and just snacking on them, bit cheaper than cooking chicken breasts, but they are packed full of protein!

Good shout with the nuts, I'll try to remember to get some next time I'm at the shops, is there any type in particular you recommend?

Good work on the weight loss lid.
