When you're young and small and you've not (in my case way back then) seen anything bigger than the pub or church on the corner.
If you walk up to the outside even then you can't take in the scale of it because you're close and can't see it 'all at once'.
You go through a pokey Gwladys St turnstile, into the low roofed 'concourse' as the call it now all you can smell is damp coats, ale, piss, woodbines and steri milk.
Then you go up the 10 of so stairs and the flood lit colours hit you - the brilliant green and the blue and white Lietch crosses.
You never realised a space could be so enclosed yet so big.
