I watched that Storyville Black Fish documentary last night. A really good watch I thought, and a real eye opener in to how whales live in captivity, i.e. terribly. I was surprised to see Loro Parque in Tenerife was mentioned, and apparently it has a bad reputation. I was there two years ago and really enjoyed the dolphin and killer whale shows, which makes me feel like a bit of a bell now.

I found it very interesting that killer whales have a part of the brain that we don't have. They're much more social than us, and the way whales often beach themselves in large numbers shows that they always stick together. Fascinating stuff.

some animals that are territorial may have some semblance of a decent life in captivity, they may have but I don't know

but migratory animals such as killer whales kept in captivity is as you say, terrible for them, no matter how many fish they're thrown

Oh yeah, good point that. I found it shocking that Orcas have around half the life expectancy that they have in the wild. I felt really sorry for the poor whales. That bit where they separated the mother from its baby was heart breaking.

oooh anyone ever see "the devil and daniel johnston" ??

very good documentary about this sort of underground musician guy who had bi-polar and believed he was posessed by the devil, it's really heart-wrenching to watch and he sounds really fkn talented too

think kurt cobain famously wore a t-shirt with one of his self-penned album covers on

music fans should deffo check out the film

Seen the first one but haven't got round to seeing the other 2. Pretty good.

The other two are just as good mate. In fact the 3rd is brilliant.

On King of Kong. Looking at all the associated clips on Youtube, looks like it was pretty much a set up. Great documentary though.

Love Daniel Johnston, the doc is fantastic.

This is heartbreaking

From Beirut to Bosnia, a moving 3 part documentary about the Western-Islamic conflict. This is Part 1. Word of caution: DO NOT watch if you don't like upsetting/disturbing images, this film contains a lot:

There are also a couple of good documentaries being repeated on Al Jazeera at the moment about anti-zionist israelis which I found very interesting. If you're into political documentaries, Al Jazeera does loads, which you can easily watch on their website and youtube channel. Here's another good one about the oil business (4 episodes, this is the 1st):
