I really hope we can do a couple of shock signings, either top drawer loans or speedy types from lower leagues / foreign climes, failing that, somebody with an engine and the ability to trap and pass a ball towards the opposition goal.

It got me thinking. He had a bit of a track record already, but would we sign Tim Cahill in 2025 and give him a chance if he was the age and profle he was then?

There would be loads on here screaming that we shouldn’t be buying untested players, the. They want to hang the bunting out for some guy they’ve never seen playing, who got great stats in a league they have never watched.

Lad the utter 'garbo'- to use your word - being posted in that Patterson thread about retaining him this season.

Best I've read yet though is that Lampard might take him for Coventry...is this the same Lampard that had to be hounded every week by journalists trying to promote the dud to finally and reluctantly play him?

I thought that kid would turn out better, early on he'd managed a handful or good crosses from deep but those dried up quickly.

Last time he looked remotely like a professional footballer was against Brentford a couple of season's back when he swung in a cross for a goal.
