Gibson and Trapp

anyhow rant over, the dubs lost yesterday too so am in a doubly foul humour, living in Donegal doesn't help matters either

I was there unfortunately- brutal by Dubs. They got away all season with only playing for 15/20 minutes per game and still win. Yesterday was ridiculous. Wait until 10 ponts down and 19 minutes left ??? Fair play to Mayo but I fancy Donegal to win it.

Back to Gibbo, normally I would have no time for a player excluding himself from the national squad - in particular Stephen Ireland's childish stories about non-dead grannies' funerals were cringeworthy.

However, Trapp's treatment of Gibbo in ignoring him even for the last game, when the result was meaningless except for maybe restoring some national pride, really p***ed me off.

Time for Trapp (and Gilroy) to move on - trouble is Trapp won't go anywhere with his shiny new contract.

I'm not Irish so I can't say I am that bothered but If I was Gibson and watched the likes of Keith Andrews and Glenn Whelan get picked ahead of me and I didnt even get a look in when the team lost every game I'd be annoyed. Also picking Paul McShane ahead of Seamus Coleman is just insane

I can't really blame Gibson in all of this, if he wasn't being picked because he wasn't significantly better than those being picked ahead of him or the players being picked were in great form then he would be wrong to throw his toys out the pram like he has. The thing is though that the players being picked ahead of him are ****e and played ****e in the Euros in a losing team, if he's still not being picked after that he has every right to do what he's done even if leaving your country high and dry isn't the most honourable thing to do.

I am with Gibbo on this. I will support Gibbo no matter what. Trapattoni is clueless. He should retire after the poor Euro campaign.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about if you think Giovanni Trapattoni is 'clueless'.

His record speaks for itself.

Every dog has his day and trust me this dog should have been put down a couple of years back - there's a common theme in that roll of honour in that most of the teams he managed were good, we're not. He's trying to implement 1980's tactics into modern day football and it aint working, he's stubborn to the point that its embarrassing, he appears to have no rapport with the players at all probably cos they cant undestand a bleeding word he says and some of his player selections are so baffling that the only logical explanation for it is he doesn't bother looking at what other players are available to him....

no wonder gibson was so annoyed when yard dogs like glen whelen and andrews where picked infront of him.

I agree that he's better than both. But the way to get in the side is to show it until it can't be ignored, not pull out of the squad in a huff. Playing for your country should mean a lot more than it actually does to some people.

yeah see what ur saying- even though he doesnt agree with the decision he could have handled it differently. i agree. lets hope he sees sense and makes that CM position his own. thought he was class till he went off on sat :(

He was. him going off showed how important he is to us now. Quietly dictating the play from the midfield and moving the ball forward, fast is exactly what Neville is incapable of doing.

Funnily enough I watched Man Utd and there's no way I'd have Carrick over Gibson. He's a slightly better passer but Gibbo is a much better all rounder IMO.

exactly, its something you expect from joey barton not gibson.
its like vellios coming out and saying stuff about moyes because he isnt getting chances.
I cant believe some people are backing him TBH,

To be honest, i think that list just demonstrates his decline as a manager. He hasn't won anything significant in a long time, perhaps his judgement isn't what it was?!

His career is in decline and yes, he is clueless as his record of managing Ireland speaks for itself. If he managed Ireland in 1985 then perhaps his decision is right but now the year is 2012 and he picks Andrews, Whelan and Green etc ahead of Gibbo. Thus, Trapattoni is "clueless" and he better retire with immediate effect as he is a man living in his past. Owen used to score loads, can he do the same now?
