Gibson and Trapp

how many times did moyes pick cahill and saha when they wernt scoring, Is moyes clueless and past it aswell

How can you compare Moyes with Trapattoni? We don't have resources. Do we have Jelavic last August? The point is Trapattoni picks crap ahead of Gibbo. Gibbo didn't even get on the pitch for a minute in Euro. Andrews and Whelan started all 3 matches. Green appeared as a sub.

Trapp hasnt a clue then if he thinks he has 100% support from the team, the whole squad hate him. Thats come from one of the senior players in the squad.

Can you attribute this or is it confidential.

Certainly there are many fans who have lost confidence in him but many more are still loving the craic that was available in Poland and are grateful to Trapp for getting there.

Be clear, the fans were brilliant but they deserved more on the field and tactically from Trapp. This was not forthcoming .

You obviously don't know what you're talking about if you think Giovanni Trapattoni is 'clueless'.

His record speaks for itself.

I hope that someday Moyes is that clueless.

So what you're saying is he's won nothing of note in the past 15 years. 20, if you discount his one good year in the German league, which is still at best the 4th league in the world.

He presided over Juve in their golden years, yes, but that also happened to coincide with some absolutely horrible, horrible football. He has been known throughout his career as someone who cannot adapt on the fly to changes in tactics by opposition (check out his confusion in 1983 when an opposing manager simply switched a single player's position), as well as just generally being one-dimensional. Yes, that may have yielded success in years gone by with a talented team, and discipline can in itself make a side harder to beat, but come on lad.

Shall we just get Howard Kendall in to replace Moyes then, based on his record from the 80s? Or how about Hitzfeld based on his record in the 90s?

Gibson should just relax, recover from his injury, play top stuff for the Blues on his return and in no time Trap will be gone (before the Brazil WC).

Just a question for you Irish lads what would your starting XI be?

Probably:

GK Keiren Westwood (even though he spells his Christian name strangely!! Normally Kieran or Ciaran)
RB Stephen Kelly
CB Richard Dunne
CB John O'Shea - bit of a donkey but until Shane Duffy is ready
LB Stephen Ward - reasonably solid and might contribute the odd goal
RM Seamus Coleman
DM Darron Gibson
AM James McClean
LM James McCarthy
F Robbie Keane - near the end of his career but probably another few decent games left in him
F Shane Long - wish Everton had signed him

Only one change from that line up for me. Keane is finished. why not go with doyle? He has not been great in league but always does decent foe Ireland

Normally i would say its not a player's place to judge the manager's personnel decisions, but this is a very special case. Trap has clearly lost it with his selections, and I can see why a player who at the time genuinely believed we were getting started on what could be an historic season with his club would not want to risk an injury in a friendly knowing he'll be overlooked when it comes time to compete for actual honors.

A manager is only a good as his most recent record. If that wasn't the case Sven Goran Erricksson would still be one of the most coveted managers around.
Trappattoni may have a glittering past cv in football, but his performance with the Irish team in my opinon has been awful.
He still believes in a style and formation in football that has been by-passed with twenty years.I still think he looks at the Italian team of the early 80's as his inspiration.
To play Whelan and Andrews ahead of Gibson defied logic. To omit Coleman from the panel completely made even less sense. He was a player that could cover a couple of positions and more importantly was a player from a top premiership side. The manager picked a number of championship players ahead of him and even picked a player that didn't even have a club.

I didn't like the style of football under Jack Charlton, but he decided how he wanted the team to play and his team was made up of players from the best teams in England.

why because he plays for us, had he still been at united you wouldnt be saying this at all.
heitinga started on the bench this season and last season, take it like a professional on the chin.
Moyes did this with some of our players like vellios, he didnt than come out and start saying he wants to leave
Im amazed how many people back him because he plays for us, take off the blue specatles and see it how it is.

Trappatoni has everyright never to include him in any of his squads again, player vs manager, manager wins everytime

same thing happened to micah richards, he didnt come out and say bad things about hodgson, school boy stuff by gibson

you can't compare the situation to the england squad, where there is tons of competition at every position. gibson is a head and shoulders above anyone else who's played in that position. at club, if your manager is not playing you because he doesn't like something about you unrelated to your football, you either work it out or move on. neither of those are options for international play, so Gibson is choosing not to play.

I didn't have a problem with van nistelrooy when he did it so your point about him being our player instead of a player at man united falls flat.

its a protest, and if other players get behind it maybe the FAI will pull their heads out of their asses and fire him
