Ah Sky Sports is strong with this one. Only good footballers win trophies and loyalty has to be sacrificed for trophies. To hell with being record goal scorer at your boyhood club, when you can win the Champions League for a club you grew up hating, and are hated by that clubs fans.

When I read the vitriol aimed at Coleman on a regular basis I do wonder if players should show any loyalty because it doesn't really go both ways

He was a boy. And he made the correct decision.
Imagine he was a Crystal Palace fan and player through their ranks we would have called him a bottler if played there all his life. Instead he won every major club trophy became the Man Utd and England all time top scorer.
Being a fan of Everton doesn’t mean that you have to lose sight of reality

So we agree, he had no interest in becoming an Everton legend has a player, which is what I stated. Never said he made the wrong decision; he did what was right for him, just like Cenk Tosun is doing by fleecing our club

It's a great point and I don't really know the answer. I would like to think if I was good enough to play, I would only play for Everton like Leon Osman, but he was not exactly treated well. Released by text.....

He was forced out. We needed the money and Bill is on record saying the Rooney sale saved the club.

He has not got the temperament for a big managerial role even if he had the ability. He would be an accident waiting to happen. There is no way United would look at him. Surely now ties have been well and truly severed with our fan base as well

I don’t get why anyone would just play for Everton if they get better other options, we have been shocking towards our homegrown in recent years. Osman, Hibbert, Davies, Kenny, Unsworth etc most give everything they had no matter what ability they had, even Barkley got slagged off before he left despite Koeman trying to ruin him.

Yet players who don’t give a toss can get idolised.

I'm actually really dissapointed in how Wayne Rooney's career panned out. When he first burst onto the scene and until he went to Man Utd, he was absolutely sensational. I remember in Euro 2004.. He would have single handedly won the tournament for England if only he didn't get injured in the quarter final. We should be right now and over the years should have been talking about Wayne in the same sentence as Messi and Ronaldo. I blame Alex Ferguson for ruining Wayne. Instead of allowing Wayne to play with freedom and just be natural.. Ferguson instead played him as a donkey.. Doing all the donkey work. In fact I remember Ferguson misusing Rooney to mark and close down Makelele whenever Makelele got the ball. What the hell was that about?

I don't recall Maradona, Cruyff, Del Piero, Messi and Ronaldo being used as donkeys
