Gerard Deulofeu

Good players can adapt to different managers and systems. I'll be honest mate, I think you're looking for excuses as to why Geri hasn't 'kicked on'. I really like Geri and we have seen glimpses of the undoubted talent the lad possesses, albeit only rarely. Forget the managers, the main reason Geri hasn't progressed into the player we all hoped for is down to Geri himself.

He's 22. He'll find the right side, get development, and will turn out good.

Koeman didn't want to do that and looked elsewhere.

Personally, I don't see any difference between Del and Sterling in terms of talent. But I'm guessing two things seem to be against him, strength and stamina.

Didn't look a happy bunny on the short clip Sky showed of him in Milan.
Reckon he would have loved to have made a career here but PL proved too much?

I can see him tearing up the serie a as gervinho and cuadrado did before him after failing in the PL. Shame he didnt sign for Inter.

Even his most fervent admirers would concede these are not his strong points.

Shame. All the talent in the world, but its a 90 minute game.

Exactly.

But when he can put it on a plate, would it be worth it? And also...With time these could improve.

Like I say, if you look at Sterling you can label the same at him - same age, inconsistent, can't finish. But he runs longer (mainly into players). Yet he's £50mill player, and ours isn't good enough.

Even Rom seems miffed he's gone.

Key word - 'could' Dave

and actually i think Geri is by and large very well liked by the fans, it's why we are wishing him luck and generally a bit sad he hasn't developed at all since he first arrived on loan, such a shame

Funny you should say that: here's you saying the opposite here when he did arrive back:

If Rom starts gambling on Deulofeu's crossing he will score an absolute hatful off him this season, looks twice the player he was on loan already

So which is it? He either didn't develop at all after his loan or he was twice the player when he came back?

Lol!

He has had 3 years to improve and hasn't.

Geri has many, but not all, of the attributes to a be a great player. On his day he frightens every full back he faces, can run at pace, has more than a trick or two and can deliver an amazing back post ball to our expectant centre fireworks.

Off the pitch he speaks well of the Club, likeable to the extreme with the fans and his team mates. If he's a sub, especially at home, he can light up the crowd with enthusiastic applause to his song.

When he's not on fire, he's petulant, looks laboured and causes more bother to our full back than the opposition. City Away in the Semi Final he couldn't be arsed getting back onside after one move that half the team had a go at him. Geri's response was to throw his arms in the air and walk down the touchline. Missing a great chance early in the second half probably hadn't helped his mood....or mine, so it stuck out for me. He was subbed soon after.

Up to Geri now, he has skills we can only dream of, but needs to add that extra in his game to make him a regular starter.

I hope he gets game time, does well and comes back to Everton to claim a first team place that his ability deserves. Sadly, I think it won't happen, but up to our magician more than me!!!

LOL, initially he looked like he had improved a lot, LOL, then after a 10 OR so game spell, the exact same flaws became apparent, so yeah he didn't actually improve Dave - WHICH is exactly why he's getting g bounced out and the only takers for him our a team in an utter shambles, so yeah I called it wrong, much like your early opinion on mcgeady after a few games was he was better than mirallas, LOL, want me to vault those posts for you? Hell I may even go into the Niasse thread and see what your early posts on that lad where mate.

It's ok to get things wrong mate. And you've moved quickly here to accept you were wrong. Anyone who gets things wrong like that and holds their hands up to the fact they got it wrong is ok by me.

Hats off.

Sad to see him go . On his day he was the most exciting player in the side. Trouble was for every good game he had, he had 2 or 3 where he was non-descript. He's a traditional winger when the role of wingers is changing to doubling up as inside forwards. He was given a chance to perform more centrally at the start of the season and failed to impress.
Wish him well.

Great talent, great potential, but fundamentally flawed and won't amount to anything more than similar players like bojan and portillo, worth the punt and as he will do well initially - he always does first few months, then wil prob get someone to take a punt in his potential and get a decent fee.

He was given a couple of halves of games there, tbf.

Oh well, he'll have to make do now with being part of the 7 times European Champions and playing at the San Siro. I'd be gutted too not to be part of the creative revolution going on in our squad.

Like I said genuinely hope he goes on to have a successful career at Milan or wherever.
Hey ho players come and players go but the team goes on. It's not like Alan Ball leaving , now that did upset me.
