100% agree. Politicians should let the justice system operate without interference during active trials. What they should focus on rather than a single trial is larger scale reform.

Very unlikely it will be that much. He will serve his time based on the most serious charge, not consecutively for all 3.

The maximum sentence for that is 40 years but given this is his first offence the sentencing guidelines say he should get 12.5 years. But the judge has to take into account aggravating factors which can increase the sentence. So it is really unclear but doubt it will get as high as 40.

12.5 years isn't great is it for taking someones life. Hopefully will be pushed up at least towards 20 or more.

Agreed it was intemperate for Biden to comment. My reaction was to his statement could lead to a mistrial. The defense can present pretty much anything it wants as "grounds for appeal" but it has to be granted by the judge. Hard-pressed to imagine the judge will grant appeal/mistrial on such basis.
