It was a door pulley that had been fashioned into a noose for whatever reason. It wasn’t a noose, it was a door pull that had been there since last year.....
So do you think it was unreasonable?

The man claimed that someone had recently put up a noose in the garage. He involved the Police and even the FBI. The ‘noose’ turned out to be a garage door pull, which had been there since last October.....what would you call it....

It was a non event blown up out of all proportion which hit mainstream media and no doubt wound other folk up because some want to see racism everywhere.....

you’ve answered a different question there.
do you think the person who reported it was being unreasonable?
So do you think it was unreasonable for someone to report? It was an over reaction probably instigated by the ongoing protests...
They're not looking for offence, Pete - they're fearing the worst because that's what a lifetime of racial oppression and persecution has taught them to do. So what if they get it wrong every now and then? That's bound to happen. There's still a mountain of racist acts against BAME people that go unreported every single day.
Funny, you'd think if they were so quick to take offence then they'd report everything, wouldn't you?
As it is, they take loads stoically on the chin without getting "uppity."
So do you think it was unreasonable for someone to report?
yes or no is fine. It’s a closed question.
Fair enough.yes....
Again context is important.
- NASCAR had just banned the confederate flag after Bubba Wallace had called for it to be removed, this was the first race since then.
- In the week leading up to the race Wallace had been targeted online for lots of abuse over the banning
- There were protests about the banning outside Talladega on the Friday prior to the race weekend
- NASCAR has a very long history of racism within its fanbase, especially at tracks like Talladega & Darlington
- Most people were expecting some kind of backlash at Talladega
So whilst Richard Petty Motorsports and NASCAR wrongly jumped to conclusions (it’s a very big blunder to make, no doubt) the climate within which they did so makes it more understandable than if the accusations had come out of nowhere.
I even said ‘probably not so in this case’, before people then tried to turn my comment into some form of derogatory racist view. People are now actively looking to be offended, and some are actively looking to be offended on behalf of others whether they wish them to or not.....
