Well thats what ive been told by people in NYC and NJ.

But as for being peaceful it doesnt look to peaceful from the videos and livestreams..

Manhattan looks ugly the last couple days, yet was relatively tame compared to the rest of the country before the looting on Monday night. They were chucking water bottles. Not excusing it, but in the scheme of things that's quiet.

NYC and New Jersey are larger than Manhattan. You don't see the other boroughs which are more representative of the population having massive issues.

Manhattan always attracts the chatacters because of the significance of it. It us the financial hub, the status symbol of the US. It draws bad actors. Manhattan might need a different solution. But to say things like my friend says, and now go on to citing live streams makes me question your credibility.

Who and what do you actually know? Not trying to be disrespectful but I think you're getting caught up in the sensational aspect of it. Which is easy to do. It's how the media and livestreams want you to react.

There have been live streams from

And others....

5th avenue and surrounding streets, midtown etc etc...he cycles along and gets up close while videoing.

Check them out...shops being smashed, looted and the cops blocking off streets and sometimes making arrests.

So watch them rather than saying "question your credibility" when im literally saying what ive seen and what others have said.

I mean if youre in NYC then you'll be surely seeing the same things which are in the live streaming.

Finally you've posted something I can agree with.
Yeah I'm getting the impression he doesn't have the cognitive capacity required to follow a nuanced debate. Would love to see the crossword he's wrestling with. I'm guessing it has clues like 'not a dog...three letters, C_T'
Wow. Imagine being that much of a saddo.
Please let us know when you're going to 'rip the snowflakes one'. Your attempts so far have been utter gash.
I think if those white farmers (ie British colonialists) hadn't stolen the land in the first place things would be better.
We can add casual sexism to your long list of faults then.

You do use a lot of words for 'I've never kissed a woman'.
Or just don't be a [Poor language removed]?
Some of the comments in this thread are shameful.

To paraphrase a post I saw on FB earlier, black people are literally saying 'stop killing us' while some of the melts on here are responding with 'but...'
You know full well they'll be on here shortly with some whataboutery, just as soon as Fox tells them what diversionary tactics to use.

He could literally [Poor language removed] in his hands during a press conference and the usual suspects would come on here defending him.

You seem like a nice, friendly troll.

Again, you're talking Manhattan. NYC and New York state are much larger than Manhattan. I'm not by any means condoning the looting. However, like I said, Manhattan is not reflective of any where else. It's its own world. It is a symbol of capitalism and wealth that others are hijacking.

You went from friends saying this and that to livrstreams. No one is watching a livestream of a peaceful protest.

I geniuinely do appreciate your concern, but being hyperbolic doesn't help

Ahh i misread what youve said.

I see, i thought you were saying its not happening in manhattan but in other areas.

Ive been over to NYC before for work, mostly in manhattan but my ex was in brooklyn and friends are dotted around the city (mostly in manhattan)and also in New Jersey.

The ones in New Jersey were saying that they are worried as well due to rioters/looters being in the next town from them. They said there was an expensive mall there with armed people protecting it (not sure if security) and there was a neighbourhood watch in place now as people were concerned.

Given your liquor store is boarded up to avoid looting and your neighbors have suffered it have to say am pretty impressed you aren’t yourself going down the hyperbolic route and are even counseling others against it - would be very easy given your circumstances.

It's all good. I totally get the concern. Mahattan was cleaned out to my understanding a few nights ago. However, I don't think it is something that will spread.

I'm not an expert by any means. I think Manhattan has been the target again because of what it represents.

I think it's a very unique situation. I think that over reacting, which I've discussed with my boss, doesn't achieve anything. However, I think us taking precautions, and I'm fully on his side given we have over a million dollars worth in stock isn't adding fuel to the fire.

I think calling for military action, and things along those lines will only escalate the situation. I really don't know the answer, and I don't know what to properly tell people. My city had race riots in 1964 and I'm lucky enough to have older people in my life tell me about those experiences.

That was way worse than this. I also talked to a few friends in NYC, from Queens, and we've been close for over a decade now. They're cousins, haitian immigrants. We've had friends die, one is from port-au-prince, so I've talked to him during the earthquake aftermath. He just had his first kid 8 months ago, and there was first the Coronavirus, which he lives at the epicenter of in NY, then this.

I reached out to him for the first time in a few weeks and all he was concerned about was me because he knows what is going on. That shows to me, we all know we're in this together, and human relationships still triumph over everything.

Whether it's what you see on social media, the news. All these people, including the president, all this division. It isn't real. Differences exist, but at the end of the day, one of my friends who is a black immigrant turned the conversation from me checking in on him to him checking in on a white guy is something I don't know how to put in words. I ride for him, and that dude always had my back. For what it's worth this is what the store looks like now. And I'll add, because of him and many others that's why I think we need to relax, listen, care, and not call for hostility. It won't do anything but make things worse.
