OMG THIS COMMENT

" As for insider knowledge being nonsense, that's how Tony Bloom made his money (and how any successful trading desk does to be quite honest)"

Yeah you're not a trader lol
I, and at least one other trader I know (who worked for another firm) was paid a yearly fee to provide such information, from Clubs we were close to and knew people involved in the day to day running of, to Star Lizzard.

I don't work in the industry anymore so technically I'm not a trader anymore, that's about the only thing you've been correct on.

You could argue that a lot of politicians got very wealthy based upon insider trading also, family buying or selling stocks that their relative has prior knowledge of a policy change. Or contract award.

Never would get proven though as a huge host of them do it.

Having a trump win priced in -- meaning is that market sentiment is showing that he will be the next president so people are trading based upon a prediction and expectation that he will win.

This poster is claiming to be a "trader" yet citing 'insider trading' and suchlike as they clearly dont understand either the traditional financial or crypto markets. But they seem to want to argue with me :)

Clearly in this case you cannot have insider trading on anything other than a pre-rigged election. This poster is also claiming:

"Insider trading is how most desks make money"

= He is not a professional trader as this is stupidity.

Do you know what a proprietary trader does?

When one thinks Rafael Cruz could not possibly go any lower. The man has two minor daughters.

I feel like Ted Cruz is kind of like a test case for Republicans to see how indoctrinated their fanbase is.

The guy is Ivy league educated, soft with a punchable face, one of the most unlikeable weasels to ever be in politics (and this isn't just Democrats, but most Republicans hate him) and perhaps the least quintessentially "Texan" beta male you could come up with. And the Republicans are like - you know what, I bet we could run Ted Cruz in Texas and put an R next to his name and people will still vote for him

It's truly something to behold

Psychologically and sociologically, the study must be fascinating.

Interacting with folks like this in daily life is sad/depressing.

In fairness mate, I have no idea how Bitcoin or the market would react to Trump win.

Its extremely well known amongst the crypto and wider trading community that Trump winning would be a good thing for the 'industry'.

Hence why BTC has increased over $70k and as I wake this morning, sits at $72,400. No other reason for this, even democrat leaning people are behind this view.

So, if someone is going to call me out as wrong & claim they are/were a trader they should actually have a clue what theyre talking about.

For greater clarity, they claim to be a "prop trader" -- those guys effectively trade the institutions own capital. The boys in the banks would have anywhere from 100-300 trading positions open and thats 20 years ago. If a bank, brokerage or a betting firm is going to employing anyone to trade their capital then that person would need to have a macro perspective -- and be using trading algorithms -- not falsely claim about "insider trading".

If I worked the same (or similar) job as you for 20 years+ I'd expect to have a logical viewpoint on the work closely aligned to yours. Not something imaginary based on a storytale I made up in my head and guesswork :)

If you look at the Equities and Crypto markets the Trump win has already been priced in.
The trump trade makes sense given a democrat sweep is unlikely and a divided government (whilst good for equities) would be seen as more of the same/neutral overall.

Positioning for a trump victory is a sensible hedge. That being said, it means eff all. We aren’t talking about a binary market outcome a la Brexit here and markets aren’t necessarily a good predictor of election outcomes.
