Good thread. Not sure how the old folk are gonna react when they find out that if Texas leaves their VA, Medicare, and Social Security disappear cuz the nation of Texas sure as hell ain't payin' for it. But the gist of what Zimmer writes is accurate, IMO.

I recently watched Andre Callaghan's 2 part mini doc on the US/Mexico border crossings and I'll be honest, I learned more from these 2 vids than I ever have from what the media generally reports. It is centered on Arizona rather than Texas though.

These stats are likely true (with lots of additional covariates to explain them) but they do make a good message. Not that MAGA clowns would listen. And not that mainstream Democratic strategists would actually show some tooth and hammer away with this message.
