Which is weird, since Gen Xers were not at all like that when they were young. We went from the generation's heroes being angsty, flannel-wearing musicians singing about pain and loss to electing these guys how? I missed something, here.
Honestly, I believe it's a fundamental truth about any generation. In their "Springtime" we see lots of musicians, actors and other cultural influencers (for want of a better word) becoming famous and it seems this new young generation are going to be radical and different... and yet there's always a bunch of quiet boring members waiting for middle age so they can become politicians etc.
It's impossible to include the generations above the Boomers as their youth was blighted by war, but the Hippies didn't change the world, the Gen X Punks and Wastrels are failing too. Millennials are now creeping above 40 and finding high office (Sunak is only just above the recognised top Millennial age), and no doubt will disappoint us all again across the next 2 decades. The current Gen Z might seem promising, but then so did we all, once...
