Do the democrats regret buddying up with the Magas and voting along lines to oust McCarthy?
I doubt it.

McCarthy had gone back on agreements he had made multiple times so was a very unreliable negotiator and, particularly if he’d been saved with Dem votes, was a dead man walking anyway with no sway to get much legislation passed - there would have only been more “motions to vacate” filed.

Politically it also would have been a very difficult vote for whichever Dems made it (even if just a “present”) in an election run up and would have handed a lot of pr fodder “Dems abandon their own speaker to support McCarthy”

As for the candidates floated, Emmer would probably have been an improvement, Jordan much worse, Scalise hard to tell.

Going to have to see about Johnson, his honeymoon might mean he has more room to maneuver and negotiate if he wants to. Unfortunately he does represent your average GOP congressman.

This is what I'm dealing with....

We're not that bad (yet). Dems hold the advantage in statewide races, as well as both houses in the State Legislature. Of course this is not guarantee of future results.....and we have the odd rumblings of Weld County (Greeley, CO) wanting to secede from Colorado and join Wyoming.

And then there's Lauren Boebert....what can I say that hasn't already been said......
